Monica Seles would probably be the greatest female tennis player ever....

From Graf’s first victory in the 1987 French to her 9th (1990 Aus) she won 9 out of 12 Slams.  Then 16yo Monica Seles won the 1990 French and won 8 out of 12 slams(Graf won 2 of them).  At that point it is 11-8 to Graf.  Graf was 23, Seles was 19.   Then she got stabbed.  With Seles out the way, Graf went on to win 10 of the next 16 slams, (Seles won 1).  Sport and Life isn't always fair but fk me that stabbing was a real tragedy.

Of the guy who stabbed her, Wikipedia says "Parche was charged following the incident, but was not jailed because he was found to be psychologically abnormal, and was instead sentenced to two years' probation and psychological treatment."

Yeah.  wtf is that all about.

One final appearance and a thrashing by Steffi Graf is hardly proof she would have managed even one title.

Seles was a top grunter whose finest performance was at Wimbledon following a period of taking painkillers which included codeine which caused constipation.

She was one of the first grunters on court for which she deserved to be stabbed.

She admitted grunting in order to put her opponents off.
