First Brit - Callum Hawkins - Great effort !

Good race but they really need to encourage runners to dispose of their litter properly.

Saw several just chuck their water bottles on the street.

Typical BBC - They missed the crucial moment when Kipchoge broke away from Biwott while they were showing pictures and eulogising about one of the Brits.

Kipchoge missed world record by just 10 seconds but Cram didn't seem to realise just how close he was as he approached the Mall.

7 seconds off the world record, must've been a grandstand finish.  I didnt see it, but If Cram wasnt aware how close it was and reflect that in his commentary someone needs to have a word.

The staggering thing about this morning's Marathon coverage was that if you removed the Elite/Professional athletes, you were left with wave after wave of white runners. Extraordinary scenes in what is often trumpeted to be Britain's flagship multi-cultural, multi-racial city, with freedom of participation for all. The same with the disproportionately white crowds. What on earth is going on?

Kelly Holmes did great, negative split in her first marathon.  4:36/km consistently up to the 35k mark then she just bolted it and averaged about 4:15/km for the last 7k. You think oh she is an ex pro athlete it must be easy, but that Ieuan Thomas bloke only just beat 4 hours in his marathons I think.  And she is 46yo.

Is it time theLondon Marathon had an African and non-African elite race. Bit like an A and B race.
It would make it more exciting to have two separate races for each gender, and give the
non- Africans a bit more of a goal rather than just trying to make the top 20.
