Ken Livingstone has gone on Russia Today to call for Cameron to be jailed over his taxes. That is the same Ken Livingstone who sheltered his earnings in a company so he could save £1,000-a-week in tax. Ken paid 21% corporation tax rate on £319,478 of earnings by invoicing to Silveta Ltd, instead of paying the 50% top rate of income tax. He also owned 99% of a similar company twice prosecuted for non-payment of taxes. Ken’s effective tax rate in 2012 was 14.5%.

Scroll down to it.

If he was saving £1,000 a week in tax, then how much was he earning?
This is left-wing Red Ken Livingstone we're talking about.
How many more of these red-hot socialists have become millionaires from pretending to represent the workers while amassing personal fortunes?

Under the title of ''Ken's spectacular tax hypocrisy.''

Him and his pal Galloway should be locked up for treason.
Always on foreign radio having a go at the UK.

What gets me is the cheek of people like him. Youd think he would keep quiet on matters like this when what he has done  is 10 times worse than anything Cameron may have done.

The only thing I can think of is he must be totally stupid.
Report olddesperado • April 15, 2016 2:12 PM BST
But surely tax is only for the small guy no ?
Report johnizere • April 15, 2016 2:31 PM BST

The pic is not a tax issue, but just a look at what socialism can do for you... or THEM!
Report johnizere • April 15, 2016 2:33 PM BST
PS., I can assume the Kinnock's tax affairs are open and transparent?
Report Dotchinite • April 15, 2016 2:46 PM BST
Neil Kinnocks certainly were. He advocated a rise in income tax whilst working for the EU in a job that was exempt from UK income tax.

I think its very difficult to assimilate socialism within a capitalist environment.
Its a bit like original sin.
You are born into the wrongs done by the ancestors who made the decisions supposedly with the agreement of the latter generations.
Much like dividing up land or assets that have defining effects on those that come later.

There are no true socialists.
Report Dotchinite • April 15, 2016 3:36 PM BST
And very few honest ones.
Report dustybin • April 15, 2016 3:46 PM BST
To be socialist in a micro level one would have to sacrifice oneself when the macro environment were one of capitalism it seems to me.
Therefore self sacrifice would essentially support others with capitalist intent as you are not competing yet still being governed by the ideologies that further the capitalist arena.

Living as a hermit one could exist as a socialist but by definition socialism is about the collective.

What the likes of Livingstone et al cant do is vilify others with explosive rhetoric if you are tarred by the same brush.
Report dustybin • April 15, 2016 3:47 PM BST
Capitalism to me can be associated with temptation, all fall to it in the end.
Report Dr Crippen • April 15, 2016 4:50 PM BST
Socialism means public ownership.
What we have is a welfare state financed from the proceeds of capitalism. It works well despite the two party system that hampers long term thinking.

The real laugh is on the labour supporters who follow lefties like Ken and co. and keep electing them into office, when they're in obviously in politics for their own interests completely.

These so called lefties are so treacherous, that under their watch the country changed from a house buying society for the workers to a society biased towards renting.
Wages stagnated and debts piled up, while our public services became overwhelmed with the sheer numbers they had to deal with through immigration.
Big business couldn't believe their luck.

And now when the chance to break free from the damaging effect that being in the EU is having on workers and the masses, the same lefties support staying in!

No doubt with their sights firmly set on the political appointments that the EU provides for them and their kind.
Report dustybin • April 15, 2016 5:19 PM BST
The implications here are those of the actions of individuals, not those set by state since the state barely exists compared to the sum of enterprise.
What went before wasnt socialism either, just as what we have now isnt completely capitalist.

We wont see socialism because the nature of humans doesnt want to feel the same as others, they want to feel above the average with regard money and status.

Which brings us back to those in power tending their own interests.
Report Dr Crippen • April 15, 2016 5:30 PM BST
Show me a socialist state with a welfare system that compares to ours, or one that ever has?

Capitalism can create great wealth. True the way that it's distributed can be far from fair. Nevertheless those at the bottom of the heap do pretty well out of it for all it's inequalities.
Report dustybin • April 15, 2016 5:40 PM BST
I dont think you can be so dogmatic in the comparison since firstly a true socialist state wouldnt have had all the profits stripped at source by the individuals before tax is taken and secondly the concept of socialism looks ugly when theres the belly dancer of capitalism in the next tent.
Socialism regimes that exist are tyrannies simply because of the degenerate desire of the individuals who are in power.

The question really IMO should be 'are humans here simply to work?'.
Capitalism creates an incentive for people to get rich through temptation, but it tries to wash its hands of the responsibility that comes with it.

I'm just puzzled at what Livingstone, Galloway, Farage, Corbyn et al. find so attractive about the dwarf in the Kremlin that they've become permanent fixtures on his ridiculous TV channel.
Report Dotchinite • April 15, 2016 7:04 PM BST
A true socialist State cannot work with a democracy. The two are incompatible. People who in a Capitalist society have the vision and ability to create successful businesses simply wont bother. They will go somewhere else where they can keep a greater share of the profits their business ideas generate.

sfb - the pay?
Report screaming from beneaththewaves • April 15, 2016 7:29 PM BST
Very hard to discover exactly how much Putin pays these useful idiots, which is not surprising now we know that Putin launders his money via Panama.

On the other hand, one of the outrageous obligations with which George Galloway had to comply before losing his seat as an MP was to have to declare his income from being interviewed on Russia Today. For 2014 the figure he declared was £26,500.

And Jeremy Corbyn used to receive £5,000/show for hosting a phone-in on Press TV, the Iranian propaganda station.

Surely Men of Principle such as these, along with Farage and Livingstone, wouldn't come out with the kind of statements they do just to please paymasters such as Putin or the Ayatollah. Surely not.

While Ken was still mayor, the Standard were running a story about a 2 million grant he had signed off for an ethnic sports club, and
the Standard accused one of Kens cronies in syphoning off some of the money. Ken accused the Standard of being racist.
On the day of the internal review, where the accused was to answer to the allegations, he resigned before the case was heard.
Ken refused to accept that his mate had done anything wrong, and reiterated the Standard were racists stance, so not surprised
he is also a tax avoider.
