Demand for housing is out of control. Therefore rents increase way beyond incomes.

Ludicrous demand in the south east was avoidable with wise town planning. I.E. build new towns in under populated areas: Scotland, Lincolnshire etc.

Control net migration. 350k last year. Utter madness if housing can't cope.

Invest in families. Why were the divorce laws relaxed? It creates greater demand for housing if families split.

Why, through the benefits system, actively encourage single parenthood? It places unsustainable demand on housing.

I have an easy solution to the housing crisis. Especially in the south east.
At the moment Farmer A keeps getting his planning rejected, while Farmer B has his approved.
Farmer A is sitting on land wort circa 2k per acre for farming, Farmer B has hit the jackpot and his is now worth circa 2 million per acre.
In future allow them both planning for half their land but at a more reasonable price say 1/2 million per acre.
Put the building works up for tender, with a two bed going for about90 to 120k.
Buyers must show proof that they have lived in the area for say 10 years, and that they have a job.
The price of the house can only then rise by the rate of inflation, so no quick profit can be made.
These houses can be known as "Moon" houses, and the local council employs a "Moon house" officer
to make sure there are no dodgy practices.

Problem solved!

homeless populations have little to do with supply of housing.

(Most) homeless sorry to say are feckless and anti social individuaals who make life difficult for others wherever they stay .

Finally h/b landlords have decided it is no longer worthwhile  housing  certain folk for the aggravation they cause  vs the rewards they get back  ,esp since the housing benefit shake ups.

There are some worthy homelss out there of course ,wouldn't want to tar everyone

There is plenty of accomodation out there for decent ,law abiding and geniune individuals .

Obviously this will only work as a quick fix if the population remains stable.
If some nut job demands 200k houses to be built every year, but then has an open border policy, and a million plus are added every
year, then obviously the housing crisis will grow exponentially.

Remainian Bullshine, imo.

Sure, we have homeless and for more sure we have them limping home to their cars after a hard day's shift.

Only in my opinion, that I've seen and witnessed... of course.

^ esp in Glasgow.

I have just been reading Steven King's book 'On Writing' and it is part autobiographical.  It mentions that he wrote 'Carrie' and 'Salems Lot' when he was living in a trailer!  He wrote them in the laundry room of the trailer.

Have any Professional Lefties volunteered yet to take in a member of the "British Homeless" ?

We all know that this "Homeless" group have been SACRED amongst left-leaning folk for a generation, but I can't recall ANY of the best known Lefties offering their home to a Homeless person. Some of them did pretend to offer their homes to Syrian Refugees, then reneged on the offer.

We even had one Chit Chat contributor who also pretended to offer his home to a "Refugee", but naturally didn't.

He was also asked many times (but was too embarrassed to answer) just how many British Homeless, or Flood Victims or Refugees from earlier conflicts he had also accommodated at his own expense. The smart money said ZERO.
