yes was good.
but hard to believe they agreed on every issue, perhaps that's my cynical side coming through. why did they send the horse to philip hobbs? dai burchell or john llewllyn are their local trainers |

Why was it's final runs for John Flint?
|
|
By:
perhaps hobbs thought the horse was finished steamship.

I agree with Tommy, a very good film.
I would also like to nominate this 2014 film for Tommy's highly-coveted "Best Film of 2016" award, along with : 'Double Indemnity' (1944) 'Plein Soleil' (1960) 'Mutiny on the Buses' (1972) Thank you. |

It was a very decent watch, and a nice story.
They certainly went on too long with the horse, but it was suggested towards the ends of the documentary that plenty of syndicate members wanted him retired earlier than he was. |

Never seen it, but no way it could be as good as Mutiny On The Buses

Very funny Alun!
Mac, stick it on and even if your dad can't see it, I'm sure he'd love listening to it as it's mainly a narrative about what went on - the majority spoken by salt-of-the-earth folk who had a 'dream alliance.' The woman that bred the horse had been fascinated by her dad's breeding of budgies when she was a child and she reckoned she could do it with a horse - and she was right. I don't want to say much more as it might spoil it for folk who haven't yet seen the film but want to as there are various twists - but it really is a most captivating story. I agree with Knot In Wood that they'd have been far better off sending the horse to Dai Burchell or some other 'working mans' trainer as I'm afraid I didn't think the Hobbs' yard spokesman came out too well with his snotty-nosed attitude, especially about their first visit to the yard - along the lines of "This tattooed man with no teeth came up to me and asked me about training a horse and I thought he was just a holiday maker who wanted a tour of the yard for free". His patronising attitude immediately irked me and I shouted at the telly "You should have sent the horse to proper people, not this snotty lot!" |

Thanks tommy, we`ll give it a try. Some great racing movies about. Seabiscuit, Secretariat, Ruffian and The Rainbow Jacket being my favourites. Don`t know if you have seen it, but the old documentary about Seabiscuit is a great watch. It only runs for about 20 minutes. Here is the link:
