showed a guy in bbc news sticking it back together - two sticky brown tubes in his capable hands.

played with this stuff as a kid in the hot sun. it was the road tar. sun melted the road - sticking lollipop stick into the hot black stuff. global warming didn't exist then.
Was in a very hot country and noticed the motorbike owners put metal plates like big jar lids under their kickstands as if they didn't, the normal "sharp" end of the kickstands would just slide into the melting tarmac, and they'd come back to a keeled over motorbike sh*gging the road
