I know when your abroad and you use an ATM you should always choose local currency when you withdraw cash for the best return.
When i'm here in the UK and i'm booking something online where i have a choice to pay in either GBP or local currency of website am i correct in thinking i'm best off choosing the latter.
Cheers Cool

Can't remember where I was and all the ATMs asked that question, pain the a**e, I didn't know what to do so alternated answers Laugh So Local is best? I'll have to remember that ... need a rhyme.
"Local is More-all, GBP is Pee". Memorise it folks!

GBP rather than Local works out cheaper for me...I think.

if you chose Local when withdrawing cash, there is a additional flat fee.  Less clear cut when paying a Merchant by card.

I thnk the answer to the original questions varies depedng upon your card provider
