not dreadful in that it has smut in it or bloody horror. I'm a fan of that.

it's just dreadfully boring. I can watch parliament but this is just horrible. I was drawn to the movie poster and thought it looked good. please trust me and do not watch this tripe.

some movie sites rate this film. I can only think they took bribes or say every film is good to keep their jobs.
Pause • Switch to Standard View warning - really dreadful film on bbc...

It is described as a black comedy - drama which means it could be anything

It has been put up for some serious awards

Best suggestion if anyone finds this film boring then give up

I will make a point of watching it. Should be good. Under no circumstances be guided by zorro..or ebul!
Report lfc1971 • April 8, 2016 8:14 AM BST
Of course zorro...and ebul, are free to write whatever comes to mind. But i don`t like this kind of freedom if they start commentating on works of art.
What do they know!
Zorro writes because its nice to fill up the lines with pretty little letters, and ebul an original thought sometimes comes into his head.
But then he gets confused and we are back were we started.

Hail Ceasar was also a Coen Brothers film and was the biggest pile of shyte iv'e seen in a long while.
Big fan of the Coens but this is awful.
Report TheBaron • April 8, 2016 10:30 AM BST
Some of the Coen bros early films were good but there's something of the Emperors new clothes about a lot of the tripe they churn out.
Report ebulGery • April 8, 2016 12:26 PM BST
Yes Baron one can only tell the same joke so many times

I have watched films highly rated which have been poor

I have films that have been rubbished which are brilliant

We just have to watch it and see....I will test the waters for 10 mins then decide
Report Makybe_Diva • April 8, 2016 2:09 PM BST
i have recorded this. Will report back, if I ever get round to watching it.

The Big Lebowski was the most over hyped film Ive ever seen, while No Country for Old Men was probably the most underhyped
Go figure

i enjoyed hail caesar. enjoyed it a lot.

anyhoo, if you're looking for a nice cheery friday night jape, might I suggest Leviathan (Andrey Zvyagintsev - 2014). Full of the sort of cheery optimism you'd expect from the Russians.
Report TheBaron • April 8, 2016 6:03 PM BST
Cheery Friday night yer after?

Try these two on Film 4 in the last week.

Starred Up

A Prophet (subtitles)

Prison drama at its best (or worst)
Report DStyle • April 8, 2016 6:12 PM BST
already seen those.

laugh a minute.

Starred up is pretty bleak, reminding me of scum.(wtf is he doing with that baby oil - oh, now i understand)

A Prophet (which i've watched at least three times) is outstanding.

I enjoyed A Serious Man if it's the same film I'm thinking of. Is it the one about the Jewish fella?

i never connected the Cohen bros with this at all - liked all the other ones... but this was like eating sand. dry.blank staring.turgid.one level bull. it wasn't even original. I'n sure alan alda done a film in the seventies like it. ssssssssoooooooooooo boring. I will seek out copies to burn.
Report zorrostrikes • April 9, 2016 5:00 AM BST
at the age of fifty - I figure I've seen an average of two films a day. say about thirty thousand films at least. They made 450,000 so far.

i rank this film at number 400,786. just behind a keystone cop silent film i saw when i was ten.

I can comment on its artistic merit... because I work as an Artist. Also because I didn't give up on it all the way through. I wanted this film to be something. I rented it thinking this will be good. Only a clergyman with a broom secreted upon his person could like this mince.
Report DStyle • April 9, 2016 8:22 AM BST
it's a pretty well regarded film.

perhaps you just didn't understand it.
Report lfc1971 • April 9, 2016 8:31 AM BST
zorro as far as i can see you are not an artist, merely a man on the street talking nonsense.
Letting yourself think otherwise is something you should avoid.

dont think what other think should influence your own feelings about a film.

but still there are enough critics that disliked it, maybe these people who make their living watching and reviewing films didnt understand it either Confused

I agree brendan - you shouldn't. For example Avatar is a steaming pile of sh1t, (albeit the pile of sh1t in question is beautifully rendered in stunning CGI)  but at the same time, it's possible that if you rate something so poorly and others rate it so highly that you might be missing something. You might not.

There is enough discussion on the internet on this film to see if you're missing something.
Report Percy Filth • April 9, 2016 3:01 PM BST
Usual stuff from the overrated Coen Brothers, they overdo the comedy and it turns into farce.
Report zorrostrikes • April 9, 2016 7:38 PM BST
lfc1971   -  round balls - i sell paintings on canvas - that makes me an artist - movie makers are not artists they are movie makers. Artist if you sculpt paint or draw. not a pop star(musician) or film maker. soon have my bins picked up by an artist if he's really good at it. he was an artist on the football pitch. stop talkin balls.
Report lfc1971 • April 10, 2016 1:48 AM BST
I am glad to hear that you are an artist zorro. When you are painting you can`t be doing anything stupid.
Report zorrostrikes • April 10, 2016 10:16 AM BST
stupid? not sure what you mean. portraits, landscapes, still life, illustration and abstracts. I do them all.
Report Makybe_Diva • April 11, 2016 11:49 AM BST
I'm going to watch this now. See how far I get with it.
Report Makybe_Diva • April 11, 2016 2:01 PM BST
Loved it! Very entertaining. I'll give it 9/10

I rarely watch films. This was just my sort of thing.

Thanks, Zorro Happy

Liked the line in the final credits: "No Jews were harmed in the making of this film."

Also, can someone put kenny's mind to rest and confirm that Schroedinger's cat was all right when they opened the box?
