Here is an almost guaranteed way to earn cash from your friends; in over 30 years it has only failed me once (I kid you not). Read on…
My advice is to stick to a stake that won’t hurt them as most (if not all) will laugh it off and use it to get their money back. I’m actually surprised how few people know this simple trick but I give you my word, it works and it makes a nice profit.
I have no doubt many of you will try this and I’d love to read your responses in due course.
The trick is to make the person say the word ‘Nineteen’ in under 3 minutes (when you get used to the trick you can easily do it in under 1 minute!)
If your friend decides to accept the wager then one rule must be set in place. Your friend must answer every question correctly unless it makes them say the word ‘Nineteen’ – Once agreed you begin.
This is a guideline on how to set them up; it is just an example but you can take as many or as few questions as you like; your only enemy is the clock.
Ensure both you and your friend put the stake on the table first and then you begin asking the questions.
Questions 1-4 (or more, which I personally prefer)
1 10+10 (20)
2 20-15 (5)
3 5+55 (60)
4 60+30 (90)
This is a shortened version and it doesn’t matter how many you give as long as you leave yourself enough time. The calculations are also yours to decide.
As soon as they say 90 you take the cash even though you haven’t yet won.
99.9% of the time they will come back to you and say something like…
“Hang on a minute, you said 19”
…and then you’ve got them! You’ve made them say 19 within the allotted time.
EASY MONEY!
One guy actually said nothing and let the clock run down where I duly let him win the stake. Pay up if you lose!

What I can't understand is how liberal some of you people are. Where is the harm in making a few shillings from your friends? In the time I've been playing this trick I've upset not a single person; in fact, they've enjoyed it and used it themselves. Life is about having a bit of fun and the best way to do that is at other people's expense, as long as you keep it within reason, which is why I added the line 'My advice is to stick to a stake that won’t hurt them' - Keep it real fellas and don't take life too seriously
I can't have a game of darts/pool without trying to take a few quid off a mate.
After falling for this a few times I now limit my friends, if asked for £10 stake i offer 19p
