I know some people will snort 'more crazy PC' and bogus inclusiveness but the proposal of the Muslim World League that storms be given Islamic names is not unreasonable.  After all there are almost a billion and a half Muslims in the world -so why should storm names be exclusively  Anglo-American or European ?
The  International Climatological  Nomenclature Commission is reported to be  considering a list of names submitted -running from Abdul to Zahir (the MWL has avoided any form of the name of the Prophet -so no storm can be called Mahomet or any derivative of the name). One remaining wrinkle concerns the matter of women's names. The MWL list contained only male names but the ICNC is  uncomfortable with this and will only accept  a 50/50 male/female division. Any agreed  list is expected to  be used in 2019 at the earliest and in 5 year cycles thereafter.
If it makes some Muslims worldwide feel more integrated rather than feel everyone is against them-it's surely a worth while move which costs next to nothing .
We can have  Storm Raymond  ...why not Storm Rahman ?
