They get him back on the lash every five years. Then he's on it for a six month spell until he hits rock bottom and then he's sober for five years. This will all happen again in 2021. Proper health problems this time though so they might make it so the next spell on the lash kills him.

This is all part of the BBC Charter.
They have to have plot lines that allow them to finish each episode with a phone line for a rescue agency. Social workers for the poor all courtesy of the licence payer  |
