brilliant sit com

It was cardiff, the episode when Philip used a piece of wood off the furniture and convinced Rigbsy that burning it had aphrodisiac qualities and would give him a chance with Miss Jones was just as good too. Great comedy but I am showing my age now !

It is awful sexist and racist garbage. I know, I used to laugh my head off at it. But now I have been Guardianised and no longer laugh at it.
In fact I don't laugh at anything at all now. Someone might be watching and may report me. |

Truly brilliant and was a forerunner in exposing prejudice so superbly.
But the thickos don't understand real comedy and lambast it.... |

And now we have Mrs Brown's boys.

Spot on bix,how low can we sink ? The irony is that, just as charwell puts it, those programmes exposed prejudice to a wider population and left millions pondering the unfairness whilst the campaigners intensity today merely switches people off.

I wonder if they will remake Love Thy Neighbour?
By:
Hope not. That was crap.
By:
Great cast led by the great Leonard Rossiter.
By:
Don Warrington was brilliantly cast as Philip the educated posh talking African.
He was everything that Rigsby wasn't. |
By:
classic sitcom. I assume Rossiter adlibbed quite a bit to pad out his lines. I can't believe all his brilliant mutterings were scripted, but I could be wrong.
Caught the episode the other day where Rigsby had purchased a car to impress Miss Jones and thought he'd run Vienna over in it. Hilarious stuff ![]() |

LR would ad lib a lot. A comic genius

Nothing ever beats the legendary boxing match between Rigsby and Phillip

Brilliant show. Loved it back then.
By:
Did it not come out that Philip was not from Africa?I think he had to admit he was from Croyden in one show.A good comedy with great casting.
By:
the one where he goes on a blind date is a total classic, rupert rigsby is up there with the comedy greats
By:
Loved them all but the one when they all go to The Grange for dinner and dancing and Rigsby borrows Spooners tuxedo is superb .
By:
Favourite episode is the one with the fraudster (Henry McGee )
'You don't happen to know the serial number do you ?' ![]() |

Seymour - The perfect Gentleman

The sponsored fast episode is my favourite.
"C'mon Rigsby, where's your backbone?" "You won't have to ask soon, you'll be able to see it" |
By:
the episode with the grey lady is brilliant
By:
len r and don warrington used to play squash and rossiter though older would beat him almost all the time
By:
Playing squash probably hastened his demise.
By:
He approached everything like he was playing squash including acting. You can see it playing Rigsby, face contorted, sweating breathless. He must have been a very stressed man a lot of the time.
It was a great cast, when 'Miss Jones' is pretending to be Rigsby's wife with a f@g in the corner of her mouth, putting on a common accent she really got a chance to do her stuff. Pity they didn't get on, although perhaps they weren't that at odds as she did go to see him the night he died. |
By:
He really was comedy gold.A complete one off
There will never be another ![]() |

It's Miss Jones birthday and Rigsby is under the impression that he'll be taking her and8out for a meal only to find that Phillip has also secured a date with her.In the end they all go for the meal together,Miss Jones mesmerized by Phillip with Rigsby feeling inferior and desperate to impress. The band is playing a jazz tune,Rigsby waiting for a chance to ask Miss Jones for a dance, raises a cupped hand to mouth and shouts,'How abaaaa a waltz then!'
