Whatever is going on in Syria its clear that defeating terrorists is not the main aim.Rather Europe/America are obsessed with getting rid of one of the last secular governments in the Middle East.Still can't get my head around exactly why.

u have to look at the bigger picture
israel.saudi.qatar.turkey.all big pals of the US and all regard Iran which is supporting pres assad as its main enemy and not isis also US want to end for good russian influence in the middle east and isolate russia on the world stage so you will never get a positive reaction to any achievements of the iranian and russian backed syrian army not eveneven the retaking of an archaeological gem like palmyra which the world should applaud btw where are all the citizens of palmyra ? there dont seem to be any left at all |

Anything that weakens ISISI I regard as good. Sorting out the rest of the problems in the Middle East is not going to be easy. We really should have left Saddam Hussein alone, we really should. Still we cannot go back in time. I do not fear Iran myself even if they get Nuclear weapons. |

The BBC had a piece on Syria tonight, was that strange worldview the lefties have where the rebels are all a bunch of cuddly democracy loving freedom lovers and assad is an evil tyrant. Toy Story 3 had more depth of political analysis.
They've learned nothing from anything that's happened in that region. |

The whole point of the wars in the middle east are to steal the oil. If they got rid of ISIS they wouldn't be able to get their hands on cheap oil, so ISIS stays for as long as possible.
You really think a few thousand ISIS fighters with a handful of guns could last longer than a couple of weeks against the imperialistic west's state of the art weaponry. |

The problem is, the reason why Saddam was brought down which people don't see, which I can. I think it was act of evil by the West(the United States....but we followed). I have to say this because I believe in truth and honesty, like yourself Ron although I could always be wrong but I don't think so. We may be fooling ourselves that we are in the right, but I don't think we are fooling the Muslims. I care little for Religion although I do believe in religious tolerance, and I do not think this about religion. I think religion has just been used here. I have given my solution elsewhere, destroy ISIS, then try to get some agreement in Syria to end this civil war. This will benefit Europe, no more refugees. |

I think destroying ISIS is the easy part, the agreement will be the hard part.
Trump has pledged to destroy ISIS, but this must be done without killing too many non combatants, otherwise it will just make things worse. I hope Trump is up to this. |

I believe what our Governments tell us they are doing, and what they actually doing, are not the same thing. I believe democracy is in a very poor state at the moment. I also note governments only do things for those who vote for them, they ignore everyone else. I think we should move to true democracy and have people voting on issues not for political parties. The internet would allow this. The people who propose laws should not pass them, the rest of us do that. As it used to be in Athens. |
