Free concert ?, not a free concert no. Music banned in this Stalinist dictatorship when it really mattered.

I'm not too sure how clever it was for the Strolling Bones to play this gig on Good Friday?
Anyway, looks like the tens of thousands who showed up enjoyed themselves. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-latin-america-35901988 Not quite 500,000 Facts ... but you are rather well known for not getting your facts right ![]() |

The Rolling Stones unleashed two hours of shrieking, thundering rock and roll on an ecstatic crowd of hundreds of thousands of Cubans and foreign visitors Friday night, capping one of the most momentous weeks in modern Cuban history with a massive celebration of music that was once forbidden here.
The stadium holds some 450,000 people. I think 'tens of thousands ' would have presented an ' empty ' stadium. It certainly wasn't ! |

The Stones? The only thing rattling was their bones.

All their best songs were in the 60's but still going strong 50 years later......amazing energy and amazing Keef is still alive ! Seen them in the 60's on tour at the Colston Hall in Bristol, with Ike and Tina Turner, The Yardbirds, Long John Baldry. It was mass hysteria when the Stones came on, the amplifiers blasting out every song and girls screaming and rushing onstage, twice the show got stopped. And a lot of those girls were so young.
Ike and Tina Turner were the principal supporting act, and not many groups or singers could have followed them on stage. |
