How far can we go before we get to the point where the human eye reaches its limits with being able to process the extra info?

It depends on the size of the TV, and your distance to it. The maths is already out there.
TBH unless your TV is huge or you are sitting really close to it, I don't see point in 4K. It'll just suck up freeview and internet bandwidth for what? |

I've an HD tv and after the novely wore off I mostly just watch the normal channels anyway as pressing 2 more buttons isn't worth it. The main ones are quite sharp even if not HD. Channels like C5 or the little wierd channels like the obscure TV movie channels aer crap but .. I don't watch them really.

My next computer monitor will be 4k. My TV is of the fat variety, and hopefully it will last another 10 years. Its resolution is fine.

I've never heard of 4k. I'm not even bothered about watching HD. I'd probably watch HD if all the channels were chronological order but they're not, they're scattered all over the place.

if i want a better picture on my TV I just wipe my glassess with a damp cloth and hey presto! it's as good as HD

similarly you can upgrade to 4k by wiping months of dust from tv screen, can even use same damp cloth
