1've got a 10 year old nokia- pay as you go- cost £30 with £10 free calls included- does calls and texts- stays charged for a week + and I spend £15 or so a year on calls;

everything else is skype or viber for free around the planet

If you spend more- is it worth it?

I went over to 3's 321 PAYG package in January when I realised it was the best deal for me. Rather than paying £25pm my calls and texts cost around £4pm, as I don't use the internet at all on the phone and the best part of the deal is that the credit remains mine!

3p per minute for calls, 2p per text and 1p per MB of data

Sony Ericsson w200i with PAYG. Probably 10 years old too and does everything I need. Nobody will be going out of their way to steal it.

Elephone P8000 from China, £115. Has the spec of a phone 5x the amount. Bought my Son a slightly lower spec phone from the same place and it's fast as anything he tells me. His cost £45. I'd recommend buying from China to anyone, it takes a while to arrive but only 1 thing (a phone cover) has went missing and I got refunded.

It's Dual Sim, I have GiffGaff PAYG as I spend

wtf, half my message got deleted? I ha the less than symbol typed.

It's dual sim, I use less than £5 PM on calls and texts so I use GiggGaff. On the other sim I have EE for my data. EE give 100GB PM for 2 months for a £10 top up. I put a new sim in every 2 months and take advantage of the offer. Unfortunately I don't see the offer anymore but I've been doing this for the past 6 months.

Total spend is £10 PM.

Motorola V220 about 14 years old. Top it up once a year with a tenner. Buy a new battery every two years for about £3.

The smart phone what a wonderful invention, why didn’t we have a device before that knows exactly where we are and can listen into our private conversations, view our surroundings and read or texts and emails. If someone told you20 years ago that you would voluntary carry such a device and pay for the privilege you would think they were crazy.
I have Samsung S5 £28 a month 24 month contract does everything I didnt need 20 years ago.

I'm very near the end of a 24 month contract @ £34 a month & can't
decide what to go for next.

vodafone Sim free 4g bundle with Unlimited Mins/Texts + 3GB = £15.30 a month.
Seems good value - but on the other hand a brand new top smart phone is
tempting to Excited

iPhone 5s bought new for nearly half price after the iPhone 6 came out. EE 4G monthly contract.

Cost? Nothing in comparison to how much it's won me by enabling smooth and reliable access to this and other sites.

Being deaf, I have no interest in what it's like as a telephone.

I've been on contract from day one (early 90s).

When I was working I ended up with a package (Racoon) I think, from Orange, that was £40.00 a month!

Had to have it as otherwise I would have been penalised for the amount of calls I made.
Like a complete tw@t I didn't change things when I got bored with work in 2009!

I'm totally useless with money, you know, easy come easy go!

When I finally got around to bothering with it, I got a new deal for £22.50 per month, and stuck with that for years, until I realised that I was making sod all calls and only 71 texts on that month!

Went onto PAYG a couple of months ago, and spent £7.00 in two months.

Just got a message to say in my £5.00 bundle I have 100 mins,2,000 texts and 100MB.

If I exceed that I'll be very surprised!

I just sold my update phone from December 2012, which I never used as I liked the one I had.

Got a new Samsung S3 mini two years ago which is perfect for me.

If and when it fails, I will just buy one of my "kids" cast offs.....Grin

It's great that we have space age - star trek - technology - but i sometimes look at the constant need for being constantly in touch - and wonder: is your phone yourlave, or are you a slave to it?
When i see people out together sitting there - ignoring each other and staring at a screen- or when they have to hold their phones up to video a concert for 20 minutes at a time - or are self obsessed with selfies - I wonder:

if you go to a place of interest - sure- take a few snaps - but there is no need to take tens or hundreds - or to instantly send them to others / facebook them is obsessive -if you want to remind yourself where youve been - just search the internet for fab pics of the place.

Footie match recently - constant checking of screen and guy next to us missed 2  goals and a sending off- saving thousands of pics for the future- most of which are never looked at - and failing to live in the 'now' - seems a waste to me

You get my drift.....is that you?

Back to footie - i missed a few minutes of WBA vMan U typing this- hope i didnt miss anything...
Cool
