Far as I know illegal migrants are entitled to nothing and asylum seekers only get £36.95 per week.Seems more likely there are going for other reasons, family in UK, the fact that you don't need to carry a national ID card which makes it easier to find work, they can speak English etc

Surely Sweden would be the place to go if they were only interested in benefits.

They also come here for work....but there is no work...we cannot let them in.

It makes it harder for our own poor. I am a socialist but I want us out of the EU, we have far too many people in our country

as it is

We only let in people with the skills we lack. Although we should be training our own people for this.

A country that cannot protect it's own borders does not deserve to exist.

Yeah, I agree with that.I don't Blame them for wanting to go to the Uk .But, at the end of the day those who suffer most are poor British people.
Lower wages and working conditions, competition for services like schools and health care, social issues.
These things only really impact the poor.

This was written by the most well known Irish economist...

"If you have, like me, the luxury of writing for the newspapers and working as an economist, there’s little chance that a new immigrant will take your job. If, on the other hand, I am labouring on the sites or working in a bar, there’s a serious chance that my wages and job security will be affected by new people coming into the country looking for work.

So for the relatively wealthy, immigration has been a boon. There are more taxi drivers, more cleaners, more shop assistants, more nannies; in short, the service economy, the one that services the relative wealthy, booms. But are wages in that sector booming? No.

The relatively wealthy don’t have to worry about immigrants pushing up rents because, frankly, the immigrants can’t afford to live in posh areas, so they compete for housing not with the relatively wealthy, but with the relatively poor.

It’s a similar story in schools. Immigrant kids don’t, by and large, go to private schools. They go to state schools where they compete for the state’s resources with Irish citizens.

These are the facts. Immigration is a class issue, and the richer you are, the greater the luxury you have to pontificate about immigration because you are not affected – or if you are, you are affected positively.

When the relatively poor – those who are threatened by immigrants – voice their concerns, it is far too easy for the rich to dismiss these people as “racist’ or “xenophobic”, whereas maybe they are just voicing everyday real concerns. One thing is clear: immigration is going to increase in the years ahead. Wouldn’t it be a good idea to talk about it, warts and all?"

Of course being run by a Tory government hellbent on destroying social network for the less fortunate in our society, whilst rewarding the most richest people in the land has nothing to do with it !!

Why are people falling for the biggest con trick ever. Blame the poorest, blame the benefit cheats, blame the immigrants.
Whilst totally ignoring the fact that the privileged few continue to reap all the benefits, avoid the taxes and grow ever fatter in this capitalist ideal.
The rich get richer and the poor get poorer. And they keep on sticking it to the working man. Austerity ? Don't make laugh, we have plenty of money when it comes to funding nuclear missiles, or bombing foreign countries( whilst selling arms to  countries who are supplying weapons to the very countries we are attacking.

It's all a con. George Orwell had the right idea. But he massively understated the effect !

Very good article Davy. I've always been perplexed as to how advocating controlled immigration is considered as right wing.  I have always considered myself slightly left wing but very much for controlled immigration. I don't see how having a constant influx of unskilled migrants to push up property prices or deflate wages is seen as a left leaning policy.

The bombs we are selling are causing the migrants to flee

MT... you should go over to the jungle in Calais and open up a free tipping service in one of those containers. You would soon have those people out of poverty. Duty calls.
