Lukas Graham - 7 Years. Liked it a lot.

Didn`t think people could still write songs.

Thought the singer was black when I heard it yesterday. Turns out he`s Danish, great voice, never had heard of them before so it was nice to come across

There's plenty of songwriters creating excellent music.

Unfortunately Lukas Graham's song ain't one of them
Saccharine cliched lyrics with hackneyed melody.
Dross for the Bieber generation and/or ' oldies ' trying to be nostalgically hip.

Do you EVER have anything positive to say pal...you live in a world of dark negativity. If you do have a partner i honestly pity them having to live with such a knut.

Well, I liked it!

Vaguely reminded me of this….Nizlopi…

Song starts at 25 seconds in…

Do you like that one Facts?

Got sent it a couple of months ago and initial thoughts were good

However it quickly became a 'novelty' type song, like others he has done (song with a 'Annie' like children's chorus uggghhh!)

The Nizlopi/JCB reference is perfect (even briefly thought of it myself)

Here's the other song 'Mama Said'
In fact it's totally a dreadful 'Annie' rip-off

Nope.
But them it's a 'steal ' from this proper classic.
THIS is what a true singer songwriter sounds like

Facts,

We all know Fast Car is good, but good music didn't stop in 1990.  Move on.

JCB Song is nothing like it btw.

Not bad that 7 years old one. His voice does sound a bit generic though.
David Keenan's new song "Good Old Days" about World War II in Dundalk "The Emergency" as it was called is very good.

to be fair Facts, if you were going to make this comment, you really should subsequently have referred to something a little more modern.

Anyone else think the singer has a strong resplendence to Mickey Flanagan?

Well, Facts.  I don't find that much to inspire…particular in the last 5 years.

I think the rock/pop stuff has pretty much all been done to death.  I find very little of interest in that genre.

Sometimes even find myself leaning more towards modern Folky stuff!

I think most people would struggle to name a group/band in the format of drum, bass and guitar with lead singer.  This has
provided nothing of any originality (at least to my taste) for ages.  Maybe all the songs have been written.

Not particularly my taste, but dance music is much more interesting, and the talent seems to be going in that direction.

Also the album/cd is becoming an outdated concept.  More about singles/downloads.  I don't like much of the mainstream stuff.
Far too many songs are over-produced.

So, I would just have to give a list of one-off songs that I like.

If you force me into a corner….I have been following The Manhattan Syndrome for a few years now.  Not particularly mould-breaking, but you might like to google them.

Also, Wye Oak

And, Aimee Mann (the best!) is still going.  Can't believe she isn't a better known,

They did an EP a few years ago which had 4, I think good tracks.  And crowd-funded an album (Goodbye Iowa)  a year or so ago.

It all seemed slow progress and they didn't do many live shows.  I think they are all professional people and that
may have restricted their output.  Seems to have gone quiet since the album.

Another 'might have been' band?

EP was 'And We Left It Behind'…

Just managed to find it here

https://www.song365.mobi/album/the-manhattan-syndrome-and-we-left-it-behind-195690.html

I don't think all the tracks on their album was quite as good.  Can't find any trace of the album..
