It could be something to do with the screen resolution changing from external screen to tv?
Try checking the resolution when connected to both and see if they are the same - if not then try changing the resolution on your external monitor to the same res' as the TV. |

I have just realised that if you right click on the desktop then select view>Desktop icons - that may restore them?

Cheers Gin, I'll try those ideas tomorrow as I'm about to embark upon the Parrot Bay Express now that I'm fresh out of Kronenbourg.
Screen size has crossed my mind - it was a 17" laptop screen, now 15" monitor & widescreen TV. The monitor used to fire up no problem. I tried right click / view icons before but that didn't work. Bottom's up! (calm down Bito) |

Sounds exactly like your computer has decided that rather than being the main display, you've now a second display and the main display is on the broken screen you can't see. Right click on the desktop and go into display properties and change it so this display is the main display again and set it also the second display mirrors main display, whichever works.

The symptoms you describe are exactly what happens on a second monitor. I'll place bets you can move the mouse right off to one side and it disappears into the void (the screen you can't see).
