1. No passes last week. One this. In fact, last week, iirc, one contender was giving ridiculous answers rather than passing.

2. How can you have more than two semi-finals?

3. What would be your specialist subject?

You can have as many semi-finals as there are contestants in the final.

My specialist subject would be "Naked group hugs and hamper distribution in the Betfair community, 2001 to present."

I thought the definition of semi was half.

It's the round before the final. You have two finalists in a soccer tournament so there are two semi-finals. There are five finalists in Mastermind so you have five semi-finals.

Most these days seem to be rubbish that no-one would be interested in. I watch on playback so I can fast forward through those.
Not particularly interested in what they call each round, it's just a weekly quiz from which an overall winner eventually emerges.

Last week, I think these re the facts

In the first round the girl got all her.s correct, then a bloke got a couple wrong and ended up with 3 more points than her.

The questions are padded out so they take approximately the same time to read out. It's therefore probable that the bloke wasted less time answering so got asked a few extra in the time allowed.

They're changing the format of the next series. 35% of the scores will be awarded to coursework.

No, Foinavon.  The girls answered straight away.

I recorded it and meant to time it all, but couldn't be asked.

Might try and find it on iPlayer.
