Newspaper industry is doomed. 20 years time there will be no such thing as a hard copy newspaper.
By:
Bought it when it started in 1986...gave up buying all newspapers about 10 years ago until the I was launched at 20p and have bought it most days since. A shame its going. I'm not going to bother buying anything else.
By:
Indie website has become all too clickbait too a la Daily Mail.
By:
Remember buying the first edition - and bought it regularly for a while.
The Times does me now, if I want a read. |

Why on earth would the British public have deserted a pro-Islam, pro-Mass Immigration, pro-Compulsory Diversity newspaper in such numbers as to make a print run no longer viable?
I must admit, it's a real head-scratcher this one. |

Never seen a young person ever buy a newspaper.
They were born into an era of free news on the internet. They will not pay for online papers. As dead as the dodo. |
By:
Love the ads at the bottom of the page of these online newspapers.
Doesn't seem to matter where I am in Britain, there is always someone from the local town who haseither lost 10 stone in 3 months, knocked 15 years off their face, earns £500 per day from their bedroom, or bought an I pad for a fiver, all with one simple trick. |
By:
well said alun, blindingly obvious that a newspaper has to represent its audience instead of insulting its intelligence. When will people understand that the readership has an impact on the paper rather than accusing the reverse to be so.
By:
I used to read it, independent it was not recently, it had become a second Guardian. I mean FFS it employed owen jones, only w*nkers would even think of doing that. Last few times I went to the website during the migrant crisis it had become more like the daily mail online in style with lots of photos, except every single one seemed to be of a crying kid or woman, it was just in your face propaganda. Like the channel 4 news, in print. The website is just unpleasant to read, there's something about it that just jars.

What a surprise self styled liberal Just Checking and right wing **** alun2005 slagging the paper off ( Just Checking's view of a liberal seems to be to the right of Genghis Khan)

He used to vote Labour
![]() ![]() Says more about the Labour Party than him. Liberal, Labour, Tory and now UKIP. If he was in heaven he would want out. Malcontent of the highest order. |
By:
When the Guardian closes down will the left begin to accept they do not reflect mainstream public opinion in Britain ?
By:
Every newspaper in the UK will become defunct within 20 years, regardless of their political leanings, left, right or centre.
By:
What a surprise, one of the people too dim to understand the 10,000 mile yawning gap between liberal and left tries to suggest I don't know what I believe in, then another of the forum 'geniuses' accuses me of voting for UKIP, something I've never done.
By:
Papers may move to a digital format, that is inevitable. But a lot of papers are failing because they preach rather than report.
By:
The guardian must be really happy, they are in the financial sh*t pissing money away, if they pick up a few readers from the sociology lecturer staff room they'll maybe not go bust ... so quickly.
By:
Only one good thing about the guardian is the crossword but the thick coonts let you print it out off the net for free. That is the trouble with these lefties, they got no business acumen. How much is the guardian now? £1.80 a day? Fk that. A shame if and when it goes as we do need some kind of printed opposition to the Sun, Mail, Torygraph. That was the guardian's job, but they don't seem to get the balance right.

Never understood at all why a KGB agent-turned-oligarch and his son wanted to buy the Independent in the first place. Presumably they've asked themselves the same question and couldn't think of an answer either.
Oh well. They've still got the London Evening Standard to play with. |
By:
Reports coming in of street parties all over the land. Something to do with Yasmin Alibai Brown getting her marching orders apparently.
By:
Yes they employed HER as well as Jones. Her appearances on Question Time etc .. she was just awful.
It's hard to mourn its passing. |
By:
Brown and Jones signing on, I really cant think of better news to start the weekend ! Then again,a Sunderland win over Manure is worth a lot !!
By:
And as if by magic. Yehhhaaaaaaaaaaa.
![]() |
By:
Doesn't come as a surprise.....the problem the left wings rags face is their core support is fast becoming the section of society who cannot read or speak English....
![]() |
By:
If anyone says they're 'independent' the best advice is to ignore them.
There's no such thing and to suggest so is ignorance of the highest order. Print media is finished due to the net now accessible on the go with phones and ipad thingies. The tabloids have a decent chance to survive because they seek to entertain and be very trivial which we all need to cope amid the gloom. E.G. 'Giant Rats ate my Shopping' - recent front page of the Star. ![]() What we don't need is so called serious journos telling us what to think about x y and z. |
By:
Unfortunately Jones jumped ship to fund his wooly jumper budget (that he wears to show he's a normal member of the proletariat) months ago. He now writes his empty-headed "power to the people" socialist sh*te for the Grauniad.
By:
Now,there's a surprise, the BBC pundit of choice to represent the yoof and leftie audience.
By:
Remember when Jones famously though that Ed Miliband's summit meeting with (the toxic) Russell Brand would assist Labour at the 2015 Election?
Oh such stellar judgement and insight….. worth every penny…. . http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2015/apr/28/ed-miliband-russell-brand-labour-young-people-politics . http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2015/may/04/russell-brand-endorsed-labour-tories-should-be-worried |
By:
You have to wonder how such a half wit gets a gig. There can't be that man fields where you suck elephant balls that badly and get poached by another clusterfucck like The Gonad.
By:
In fairness Jones wasn't the only 'progressive' and 'compassionate' man of the Left who felt that Brand-Miliband was THE section winner for Labour, but I wouldn't wish to name and shame the Chit Chatter concerned. He's had quite enough hidings this last few months.
By:
Surely not The Messiah otherwise known as The Ian?
By:
Ahh, there's no hiding place for King Ian while you're around my friend.
