Actor Greg Wise secretly records meetings with tax planners, who are keen to help the rich and famous minimise their tax liabilities or even avoid paying it altogether. He uncovers legal avoidance schemes and meets a former insider who estimates that schemes sold through his former company cost HMRC more than £100million a year

Buy a few more bombs that 100milion - trouble is the debt is now billions and to them millions have become small change and it doesn't even register on the richter scale.........

Rich peple and corporations do not create more jobs by giving them tax breaks, they just get richer. The only thing that creates more jobs is consumer demand, you and I buying more and more stuff.

There is a good TED lecture on this topic by a millionaire down to Earth guy, like he says, although he's a millionaire he doesn't buy 100s and 100s more of everything, its all tosh this tax break for the rich to generate more jobs.

Just tax the corporations and rich coonts and see if they fack off, they won't because they like living here, sport, pubs, etc, etc, its a good culture we have. Government should tax them full whack and make it impossible for them to live here if they throw ther toys out the pram. If you don't try it you'll never know if you will be better off or not.

As the guy says if tax breaks for the Rich created jobs we'd be fookin drowning in Jobs - so where the fook are all these jobs that have supposedly been created.

If I was the government I would make tax assessments on these rich guys, that is what happens to the rest of us

If they did not pay I would then throw them in prison until they paid every penny, no appeal!

Be like the old Newgate  Debtors prison, I would allow them to do business from their cells that is all...

If they have smuggled their wealth out the country, they would have to smuggle it back in, or stay in Newgate for life!

They should be PAYE same as everyone else, monthly payments on previous years earnings (just as mere mortals do) and then when they try to claim back at the end of the year they get a little bit, not a lot, but only if it's justified.

it's a trickle

Tonights show has taught nothing new, but it does highlight further how the rich cannot help themselves in just getting richer at the expense of the ordinary everyday taxpayers.

Afterthought, I saw that documentary. He seemed a genuine guy, multi millionaire (think he was American) who basically said he has paid every penny in tax and never did any tax avoidance etc

He also said the trickle down theory is bullsh1t, as he doesn't buy 100's more of any products. Even if he bought a luxury watch, he can only wear 1 at a time, and therefore may own 2 or 3 at most. But if you had 10 millionaires instead of 1 guy worth 10 million then more value would be spent on luxury watches. So more trickle down.

Fav part was he said there is no point being a multi millionaire when your head is on a pike lol. And if the super rich do not change their attitudes to tax and wealth then the whole system will crumble and that will be the inevitable outcome.

History shows that when such a huge gulf emerges between the wealthy and the average man on the street then you get events such as the French Revolution, Russian revolution etc. You can actually see the early signs in Europe of such tensions risings for example the riots in Greece, mainly by the disillusioned  young who see the Rich and the older generations as failing them. (which they have)

Didn't help when some economics professor did the 'Beer Economics' in support of taking care of the rich.
