Happy to help blackjack...
If not used for 18 years you may find this site useful. www.google.com It is a new site, which allows you to search the Internet for the subject you are interested in. In your example type in "quadratic equation" X= (-b +- (x^2 -4ac)^1/2)/2a. (A=1. B=93.568. C= 2057.227632) |

But it's not really an equation? What's on the other side of the =? 0?
Do you mean x2-93 = 2057? is it x squared? |

Now then, THIS very same thing was always my downfall at school.
I was numerate (and still am) to a decent degree - but what the bloody hell are quadratic bleedin' equations??!! I remember being told about them by the maths teacher one day at Hanley High, understanding them, doing numerous examples of them in class for the rest of the lesson - and then a total blank - for the rest of my life. |

Hi toes..
They are pretty much any equation with x squared in it. The standard way it is shown is Y = ax^2 + bx +c Where a,b,c are any number (although if a=0 it is just y=bx + c so a linear equation) The formula you would have used at school is about finding the 2 points where y=0. |

Mexico thanks for the help. I obviously resorted to google first and had a good look at it but even with an equation solver I didn't have a clue what was happening without as I don't remember anything of that ilk from school and what I was reading wasn't helping! I just needed someone that made sence of it, to make sense of it for me!
cheers |

I think I haven't actually given the full puzzle which I didn't realise. Apologies... here is the writi9ng that coincided with the puzzle that I missed out (crucial I know, shoot me later)
Find the two roots of the following quadratic equation x2 - 93.568x + 2057.227632 = 0 |

Oh youre good! can I ask how you did that - was it straight forward?
im curious as I don't wanna have to ask the same questions again. regards and thank you for all the help |
