Lord Lucan has now legally shuffled off this mortal coil.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-35481376

Lord Lucan is now presumed to be dead, a High Court judge has ruled.
A death certificate has been issued 42 years after the peer vanished when his children's nanny Sandra Rivett was bludgeoned to death in London.
He was declared dead in 1999, despite dozens of unverified sightings, but the new ruling gives his son the right to inherit the family title.

So will his son get a seat in the House of Lords?

I guess we should spare at thought for Sandra Rivett, who was brutally murdered by Lucan (or by a hitman for Lucan, if you prefer: it amounts to the same thing).

Why was she killed?

Why was she killed?

Lucan wanted to murder his wife but got the children's nanny instead.
Report Ramruma • February 3, 2016 2:32 PM GMT
Lucan was then helped to escape by his posh gambling mates, who also obstructed the police.

To Africa?
Report Ramruma • February 3, 2016 2:38 PM GMT
No-one knows. There was lots of speculation about Botswana and other places in Africa, or even that he'd topped himself in the Channel.

Are they still Lucan for him ?
Report alun2005 • February 3, 2016 2:46 PM GMT
I very much enjoyed "A Different Class of Murder" by Laura Thompson about this notorious case.

Just shows you how corrupt the establishment is. So many of these toffs have got away with hideous crimes.

My thoughts are with Miss Rivett's family.

£300 per day.....not to be sniffed at !
Report polybot • February 5, 2016 10:24 AM GMT
ideally, you'd kill lord lucan, then kill the nanny, then say lucan killed the nanny, then done a runner.

a bit like that times you made billions on the sub prime markets then blamed it all on bankers and whatnot.

Motive?
Report kincsem • February 5, 2016 3:21 PM GMT
I think they stopped paying ground rents in Castlebar to Lord Lucan when he disappeared, probably because he didn't leave a forwarding address.

Surprised they didn`t frame an ordinary punter for the atrocious crime like they normally do.
