False alarm, agent told they would not give him a license.
Report Barry Conway • February 1, 2016 7:38 PM GMT
A comeback at his age? Who does he think he is, Frankie Dettori?
Report Dr Crippen • February 1, 2016 7:40 PM GMT
Well he's off his rocker isn't he.
Report xmoneyx • February 1, 2016 7:50 PM GMT
first fight Harry carpenter

digging him up
Report Eeternaloptimist • February 1, 2016 8:12 PM GMT
Harry on points.
Report ebulGery • February 1, 2016 8:14 PM GMT
Not very well put Dr Crippen...he has Bipolar Disorder, not his fault

Considering what he did for this country he deserves our sympathy

He is not being given a licence...some fighters go on into their 40's but 54 is too old, and he has been away too long. He would have lost his

speed of reaction
Report AFTERTHOUGHT • February 1, 2016 8:20 PM GMT
Still got a good sense of fashion old Frank.
Report akabula • February 1, 2016 8:21 PM GMT
I remember the shock when Foreman made his 2nd comeback and he wasn't even 40.
Never a chance of a comeback for Frank.
Agree with Ebul he does deserve our sympathy for his illness.
Report akabula • February 1, 2016 8:28 PM GMT
Was on his twitter page just now and he's posted a 25 second clip of himself announcing his comeback on This Morning.
Looks as fit as ever btw but ATs comment on his clothes was confirmed by running through his posts. A suit in every colour.
He actually looked okay in the yellow a nd pink ones surprisingly. Laugh
Report curious-cat • February 1, 2016 8:32 PM GMT
knocked down by TGM etc.
Report ebulGery • February 1, 2016 8:47 PM GMT
He should try the entertainment circuit if he needs to make money. Must have some interesting stories to tell..

Would need a little help to sort out an act and an agent of course, bipolar permitting

I liked Frank most people seemed to
Report ebulGery • February 1, 2016 8:55 PM GMT
David Haye thinks he should be allowed a come back....but I would not agree

Haye himself has built himself up with diet and weight training, looking to come back himself

Still a dangerous man Haye, very impressive in knocking over Mark Mori in one round

Although Mori looked well outside his class, really only a club fighter, Haye needs a sterner test
Report BRIGGSY08 • February 1, 2016 9:00 PM GMT
Rocky done it at 59 I think.  That guy David Haye knocked out the other week, frank could beat him.
There are three women in my street that have drivers licences, how can frank not get a boxing licence?
Report a bitofinterest • February 1, 2016 9:02 PM GMT
may as well let popeye make a comeback ffs

If you are referring to the films that was fictional,

There is a bloke in Nottingham Steve Ward who is still pro boxing at 59Shocked

I don't want to see Frank Bruno back myself
Report Coachbuster • February 1, 2016 10:00 PM GMT
we could always have the two Bruno's in a good old fashioned dust up.

Our Frank vs that Bruno Tagglatelli guy on come Dancing would be a few minutes of anyones time  Excited

Frank seems like a great guy with a big heart, feel sorry for him. I remember reading some time ago that he had a boxing ring in his garden and used to sleep in it sometimes, this would be after his wife pissed off with the kids and left him on his own. Good luck to big Frank he doesn't seem to know what to do with his life since he got too old to box. Even Fyffes turned him down FFS.
Report xmoneyx • February 1, 2016 10:55 PM GMT
refused boxing licence because they wouldn't be able to fix it Laugh

HP sauce advert coming soon.....Know what I mean 'Arry?
Report Eeternaloptimist • February 1, 2016 11:58 PM GMT
May be a false memory fro when I really knew my history of boxing but in the old old days I think Gem Mace fought for the British heavyweight title in his late 50's and fought an exhibition fight with the world champ at the time (I think it was Jeffries so mid 1890's ish) when he was in his mid 60's. Irrespective of that we are in more enlightened times. Frank was okay but no Lennox and he'd get smashed today by any of the top fighters.
Report ebulGery • February 2, 2016 12:18 AM GMT
You know your boxing Eternal

The trouble is Frank imagines himself fighting someone like Joshua...he could have done at his best

But not now...

Report dustybin • February 2, 2016 7:02 AM GMT
This is the biggest non event news story yet this year.
Bruno would never have been reissued a license, many seem to forget he lost it in the first place due to damaged retinas.

Frank has always received great warmth from the general public. His problem was the individuals that magnates to him and his desire to entertain and be liked and respected, he tried too hard.
The punches wouldn't have helped, but I believe his condition evolved from a nasty racist contingent within the black community who treated him badly for acting like a white man's fool.
Frank is a good decent well liked man who holds an enormous amount of value with the public, I'm sure. There's an opportunity there for him.

Romeo and Bruniette
Report Crisp77 • February 2, 2016 9:54 AM GMT
His first fight is against a tall blonde haired Russian amateur boxing champion...don't worry though, it's only meant to be an exhibition.
Report ebulGery • February 2, 2016 3:48 PM GMT
David Hayes now said he should fight against me his own age....not those in their 20/30s

Not a bad idea over 50 fights. Bruno could fight Mike Tyson again, he will be 50 next year...well if we let Tyson in the countrySad

Still if his detached retina stops him getting a licence that is a pity

I could see a market for over 50 fights myself
Report ebulGery • February 2, 2016 3:48 PM GMT

Report dambuster • February 3, 2016 3:56 PM GMT

John L Gardener...both too old imo

Still if he needs the money I suspect Bruno will fight

Report akabula • February 3, 2016 10:52 PM GMT
He says he needs to get back fighting to get rid of all his pent up energy.
Hopefully he'll be able to do that in another way. Maybe coaching could be the answer.
Troubled guy but very likeable so I'd think people who could help him will come to his rescue.
Report ebulGery • February 3, 2016 11:50 PM GMT
I hope so too akabula
Report themightymac • February 4, 2016 2:09 AM GMT
He must have another book coming out soon. Obviously a publicity stunt.
Report rob_dylan • February 4, 2016 9:01 AM GMT
Was just looking at betting prices and it turns out there is talk of a Benn v Eubank rematch.  Benn 11/4 and Eubank 2/7.  Obviously have to presume this is all bombast and bluster and attention seeking but does anyone have any idea, realistically, what the odds of a rematch taking place are?  They both seem fittish, early 50s I guess and would make a mint load of money.  What would they have to prove to the BBBC to get a licence?
Report Stow_judge • February 4, 2016 9:58 AM GMT
Perhaps he could fight that pansy Audrey Harrison. Crazy
Report ebulGery • February 4, 2016 5:36 PM GMT
A Benn v Eubank rematch would sell well Rob

I think Frank is genuine mightmac, I don't think it is just a publicity stunt

I don't think Audrey Harrison will fight again Stow. I would not say Audrey was a pansy, I don't think his heart was ever in it, he was only

ever an amateur imo

He turned Pro for the money, but I don't think he was ever hungry enough for it.
Report workrider • February 4, 2016 6:09 PM GMT
It would be shameful if big Frank was allowed box again imo. A lovely man who gave his all ,very limited as a boxer but the heart of a lion.

Sadly Harrison had it all except a chin and I do mean a serious case of glass chin. That kind of thing drains any other assets he may have. He knew before he stepped into a pro ring what the score was but he sure managed to sucker a few in.
Report themightymac • February 5, 2016 2:44 PM GMT
Bruce Forsyth would have been a contender with that chin of his.
