If you get infected then come back, would any mosquito here not then get it from you so it enters their local population?
Plus they can get into your luggage etc. The olypmics is a fantastic way to disperse it round the world!

The only way to protect the female athletes from mosquito bites is to get them to wear a full length robe that covers every part of the body except the eyes. maybe in a nice black colour? Grin

Getting serious : this virus is not just dangerous for women.....if a guy goes to Brazil and gets infected by a Mosquito then when he comes back to UK he can then infect any sexual partner he has !

So it would be too high a risk to go for blokes.

Awful for the poor babies and their families, but not too much to worry about unless you're trying to start a family or already pregnant, I'd have thought.

You're right Patra - but never let that get in the way of hysteria and exaggeration.

You do realise the mosquitoes are Muslim Mosquitoes (Muzzie Mozzies) and are being defended by the BBC and The Guardian, as I write.

It's the women's own fault. Going out dresed like they do in Brazil they are virtually asking for it.

What's any red blooded Muzzie going to do?

According to Brazilian football correspondent Tim Vickery, The virus is a Summer virus and almost entirely jungle based.  The Rio Olympics are in Rio and it will be Winter, so he dismissed it as almost nothing.  Water pollution (for the sailors, long distance swimmers and rowers) the biggest concern according to him.

The Daily Mail, who's only interest is to sell sensational stories, or a rational educated man who lives in Brazil?

"According to Brazilian football correspondent Tim Vickery, The virus is a Summer virus and almost entirely jungle based."

WINTER? Looking at a climate chart of Rio, it doesn't even go below 20'C in "winter", if I was a mosquito I wouldn't exactly be hibernating! Is this football correspondent an insect/disease expert? I've been attacked by mosquitos in towns and cities myself in Europe, they love me as my blood tastes of betting prowess.

The World Health Organisation have rung their big red alarm bell for only the THIRD time in their history, and you are saying it's the Daily Mail being silly and put your medical trust in a ****ing football correspondent?

Agreed xmoneyx, Mosquitos live where its warm enough, low enough, and they have stagnant water. They don't check out zoopla for the population density. It's not like Rio has favelas with like big open sewerage etc. Oh..

I hate the b*ggers, it's a reason I love the good old UK and its fantastic climate Laugh
