I get my own back on them by
searching for two minutes for my wallet handing them dozens of money off vouchers which won't work trying a couple of credit cards that won't work then very, very slowly sliding my credit card into their card reader and entering my number wrong a couple of times, before getting it right. Ha - Let's see how they like waiting for payment. (I have noticed that at least half of women in the queues seem to have adopted the same protest) |

I get my own back by never buying anything from Tesco.

Its just the face of enterprise today.
The CEO comes out today and says 'we are already a different company' in an attempt to undermine a damning verdict. He wasnt going to say 'sure we have tried it on in all possible ways, and you know what we still do it' is he? People can make up their own minds about their actions, there are 5 live investigations at present that are still pending. They have homogenised the high streets across the land now they are getting their dues of trying to push the small companies around. |
|
By:
Deceived every shareholder, a fine wont do imo.
|
|
By:
They still think the public are idiots and will believe that it's all been put right now. The CEO says "we've drawn a line under it".
|
|
By:
To be fair theres no reason to think Dave Lewis hasnt cleared this up. The real question is whether previous executives should be prosecuted.

Stopped using them.
I wear contact lenses and was trialling a new type with them. New lenses ok and went back to Tesco Opticians for eye check. Checked eyes, ok, the opticians says that will be £15. Complained that I'd never been charged before (in 10 years) and that nobody had ever said there was a charge. Manager jobsworth explained that it was a new charge. I paid not wanting a fuss in the store, but said to manager if he took my money itmwould be the last Tesco get from me and my wife. The stupid coont took my £15. I came home and phoned head office and complained. They sent me a £20 voucher! So they got £15 from me, gave me £20 back and lost a customer in mememe and my wife. Optician in Solihull now has a new customer and we shop at Sainsbury's. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how you create a small business ... start with a big one! Mad, mad, fookers. |
|
By:
Any chance you could send me the £20.00 voucher please?
|
|
By:
Aunty ... Mrs mememe spent it today along with the £7 money of voucher if you spent £50.
Not the first time a good man has been undermined by a woman! Mrs mememe now sleeping in spare room. |

Now its being spun as an administrative error
![]() Despicable company, especially their treatment of local shops with the "Tesco Expresses" One opened a couple of miles from me, despite local and council opposition. (Tesco Lawyers found a loophole on planning) Undercut its long standing rival, until rival inevitably closed. Prices then went up to same as rivals ![]() ![]() |
|
By:
mememe, the £50 you spent to get £27 back would still have left Tesco a profit.
What bugs me is - like all big companies/councils/quangos/banks - you never get a name or person responsible for anything when reports are shown/written. It's "Tesco said" or "British Gas said" or "Google said", etc etc Just a few people working for all these greedy firms are trying to secure a nice wage for themselves or get brownie points make these decisions and the impact on the public or small business or even the economy can be huge. All in the name of 'the shareholder'. Britain was stronger before it copied the worst of American ideals in the assist of a few wealthy people. Now, for most people, it's become crap. |
|
By:
TBH I couldn't give a feck how any of these companies operate.
All I want is lower prices for quality food. Not in great supply at Tesco to be sure but whoever gives that can do what they want elsewhere. |
|
By:
I take a slightly different view. I do care about the treatment of people in the supply chain and whist I want decent value I don't want to cut anybody's throat to save a penny. Independent confirmation of this behaviour makes me less likely to shop with this company. I still think many people believe in fairness in this country and I hope Tesco suffer as a result.

slave wages ok akka ?
|
|
By:
Wasn't talking about that side of things. As regards wages we're on the road to a living wage and I don't think Tesco are out of line with other large retailers.
As regards delaying payment then that is prevalent in every business.Tesco took it a bit too far but are getting their comeuppance. My wife does the shopping but rarely uses Tesco but I wouldn't be suggesting she boycotts them. |
|
By:
Theyre all as bad as each other
No labour intensive company pays all its staff and suppliers decent wages, provides quality goods and offers low prices. Its simple maths |
|
By:
Shop locally in your independent shops and you'll probably save money by only buying what you want and not being sucked in by clever marketing and promotions. Also you can speak to the bloke who sells you the stuff and he will care a lot more about his goodwill than the faceless individuals behind the likes of Tesco who don't care about anything except the bottom line and you are just a pawn in their game.

Just shopped at sainsburys again today, havnt shopped at tesco for a while and it shows in the vouchers they send when you havnt been.

Please continue to support Tesco as I have lent them just under 25 grand until 2029 and was rather hoping to get it back!

I think most people shop at the best local supermarket and only use others where it's convenient. Who wants to go to more than one shop for their main shop unless they share the same car park?
I have not been in a Lidl or Aldi, but our local ones are smallish shops and I can't imagine that they can have the range or choice of our Tesco. Our nearest Sainsbury reminds me of Wollworths. It has not changed in 35 years and it has a poor range and choice of goods. Our local co op strikes me as a 1945 type shop and is the worst supermarket I have ever been into. |
|
By:
btw My local Tesco's diesel was 97.7p a litre last night.
|
|
By:
They say not to put that muck in the motor. I was told by an Audi engineer that surveys had been done on the cars that's owners lived close to supermarket petrol stations and they invariably had more engine problems.
My parents said that aldi only take cash which is a bit backward imo. |
|
By:
We should all be paying with cash. Why line the bankers pockets with their percent or two from the credit or debit card fee? Aldi are probably keeping the costs lower for the customers by doing that.

I do recall being told there was something about whats added.
Apparently TDIs without them gum up to fook. Cash maybe a saver but its not very convenient, having to go get cash out before doing a fortnightly shop would be a pain, and a great source of money laundering if audited. |

Companies like this are responsible for a relative of mine selling a Dairy Herd built over four generations as milk just didn't pay. Milk production in the UK is at a 30 year low and we import more every day.

Very nice oranges at the moment...

Yep, I'm enjoying a daily orange right now. It's a bit of a pain peeling it as my food processor attacked me on Monday night.

these boys cooked the books not long back. little suprise that they also manipulated their supply chain. deserve every punishment they get.

By:
They've avoided punishment for the delaying tactics as the legislation wasn't in place at the time the offence commenced.
