Someone will know. 69 or 70, Bath I think (not Plumpton!) Late and pitch black for 10 minutes, then a simple announcement "Led Zeppelin" and straight into "Whole Lotta Love". Never forgotten it, (except where I was and when of course )

John Peel was the compare, and the weekend ticket cost 50/- ( £2.50 to any youngsters on here)
I was 19 and was there with my girlfriend and two friends. Unbelievable experience. This followed the previous year when I was at I.O.W Festival ( with Jimi Hendrix, The Who, Bob Dylan etc.) Happy happy days of summers, love and laughter, music, pot and the whole hippy thing, when your long hair meant everything - and life was without stress and strain..
So so glad I was around to experience it all.
Thanks for prompting these memories blackbarn. [:laugh

That spooky middle section of 'Whole Lotta Love'. Scared me as an impressionable primary school boy, and still love every moment of it. Sounded not unlike like they were trying to raise the Devil.
