Same here on Virgin. Whenever I change channels I seem to have to sit through a couple of minutes of adverts.
I've tried waiting for an ad break to finish on one channel, then immediately change to another... and there
they are again!
I've long suspected that Virgin have some sort of control over this, but people think I'm paranoid about this.
They're probably right.

I'm afraid the only way to watch tele these days(sport excluded)is to record the progs to watch later. What you say is correct johnizere..there's no way around it..the bstards are one step ahead and schedule there programmes so the ads hit at the same time. Its been a bone of contention of mine me for years and its dammed annoying.

stopped Sky over a year ago because I was fed up of paying mad wages to footballers and paying £80 odd per month and having to watch adverts WTF

Now watch any sport for free on t'internet and have bought an HDD recorder so I can just "Sky Plus" anything ... without the fookin Sky bit .... lovely HappyHappyHappy   all for free

Was it you memememe that had the HDD recorder thread a while ago? Some of them (and I think they model in that thread) have a feature where if you are watching something recorded with adverts you can hit a button and skip them Laugh.

Sky is full of adverts and repeats, imho it's not worth it.

Its a constant battle in american courts of claim and counter claim between the marketing sector who want customers to be forced to view ads and the technology sector who come up with products that avoid them.
Cant recall who has the upper hand atm.

yes, it was me(meme) who posted a thread about HDDs a couple of months ago.  Mine packed up after 12 months + 1 week!! and I wanted advice on a new one.  Turned out (after getting a new one) that HDMI cable was faulty (the fooking thing just sat there, day after day doing fook all - like the dog - and then one day stopped "working" ... lazy fooker.)  Anyway, eventually discovered cable, not machine was faulty, so I sent it back to Amazon.
Don't know if machine skips ads, though ... just fast forward and laugh and poke fun as ads skip past LaughLaughLaugh and me not watching.

I agree with Twizzle, just record whatever it is you want to watch. An hours programme only takes 40 minutes to watch then.

Does anybody else find that downloaded films from the Sky Movie Store doesn't have as good volume with them? I can turn the volume up 40 notches and it doesn't get any louder.

memememe im fairly sure that type (panasonic) has the feature I'm on about, a fwd skip button.

Yep, it's got a fast fwd button but it just goes on and on ... past the adverts and on ... perhaps it knows that the programme I' m watching is a load of sh1ite and wants to get it over with quickly.
Thanks for advice, though.

Becoming much harder to watch tv nowadays, they are making 40 min shows last an hour, i thought that their was a 12 minute limit on advertising per hour, or is that just on terrestrial tv in the uk ?
Report Just Checking • January 24, 2016 9:21 PM GMT
mememe no, there are OTHER buttons marked "skip" that look like fast forward buttons?

RTFM!

Yep I've got that button but it doesn't do anything ... nothing happens when I press it when I'm playing a recorded programme.

Can you send me yours and I can try that?

What's RTFM .... return to fooking manufacturer?

Have you tried pressing it dot dash dot with your big toe?
Some of these new fangled things have more features that you'd imagine.

More ads and less programme isn't necessarily all bad, with the state of gutter telly now I wouldn't be surprised if Alan partridges monkey tennis wasn't far away.
