its a terrible thing Kenny,
have you seen the doc on glenn Campbell? beautiful but heart breaking ,an amazing man! |

Caught glimpses of of it, tel, but wasn't paying a lot of attention, as I've recorded it. Strange, he's sadly lost it, but can perform as well as ever, presumaby in front of thousands and remembers every word of the songs, but that's the nature of the cruel disease.

Are you referring to the programme the other night on Sky Arts. Probably not.

Ian Hunter of Mott etc fame went to the same school as I did - albeit 10 years earlier.
It was an upmarket Boys Grammar School in Shrewsbury renowned for its academic excellence. Hunter didn't excel academically but made a fortune, while all the clever kids went on to make their fortunes? err, well just being clever. I could have used this in an earlier tenuous claims to fame thread but I didn't. |
|
By:
I should also have added that the school was so academically excellent that in 1965-ish, some scholars and one (we had a few) of the latin masters, made a record singing (in latin, FFS) These Boots Were Made For Walking, as the Frank & Nancy song was in the Hit Parade.
Not surprisingly, it didn't chart, but made it on to the Midlands News! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Yeah it's a mighty long way down rock'n'roll
From the liverpool docks to the hollywood bowl 'N you climb up the mountains 'n you fall down the holes All the way from Memphis A real rock 'n roll band |

i have both the albums after ian hunter left. Drive on is a fantastic album up there with the best. If you have not heard it you should ,some fanastic tracks on it.
The next album was shouting and pointing which was not as good and flopped . I think they disbanded after that. Saw them a few years a go in Manchester , stood next to Joe Elliot (Def Lepperd) at the bar !!! |

Dragon,i live in Worcester,Luther originally came from Evesham and decided to come back to this area for a peaceful retirement. As Terry stated he was a superb guitarist and have spent time looking at his memorabilia and listening to his stories.
To be honest the Rock n Roll years have taken their toll and think he was upset not to have been asked to perform when Mott reunited in 2009 and 2013. |
|
By:
thanks Nortons would love to h listen to his stories bet they are really interesting. I wonder why he didnt get asked to do the reunion tour?
|
|
By:
Will try and find out but think he has not played professionally for a number of years.
