Where do we start?

Plenty of blowhards - some within these very portals - might advocate a 'send 'em all back' policy or at least the Donald Trump line of 'stop them all at Dover'.

Impractical, undemocratic, illegal and probably lead to some industries going bust (horse racing for starters).

So, once again, the quiet pragmatism of this government shines through, just as it does with the support for organisations dealing with refugees / asylum seekers / economic migrants / terrorists at their first (European) country of safety after leaving their homelands.

A few other points:

It is utterly disingenuous of Muslim groups to question the link between not learning English and Radicalisation. To learn the native tongue is not only polite it is necessary to conduct your everyday business in the country that is giving you a home. Failure to address this means inevitable segregation and susceptibility to retreat into one's native culture and no engagement with Britain or British liberal values.

This should be a basic minimum for anyone looking to make the UK their home and English Language classes for any immigrant should be applauded and extended.

Secondly:

And in a move to confront men who exert "damaging control over their wives, sisters and daughters", the prime minister will announce a review of the role of Britain's religious councils, including Sharia courts.

Sharia Courts should have no jurisdiction whatsoever in Britain. The primacy of British justice, fought for and tested over 800 years (I'm going back to Magna Carta - others may differ) to produce - IMO - the best and fairest legal system in the world, imperfect though it can be at times, must be paramount in this country.

Ditto the primacy of the secular over the religious, respecting the views of the religious of all faiths.

Mr Cameron said it was time to be "more assertive about our liberal values, more clear about the expectations we place on those who come to live here......"

Bang on!

The answer to radicalisation of any form is to stand up for 'liberal' (small 'l') values, the reason why this country is 'free' (however you want to interpret that word). This won't go down well with those among us who see the word 'liberal' and come out in the hives, no matter this view is being expressed on a gambling website (irony being lost on the carpet-chewing 'hang em and flog em' types).

Finally, far from questioning this approach and nit picking on details, it would be great for the Muslim Community (in whatever form) to come out (not in the Tom Daley sense - although that'd be interesting) and go 'Right On! British values for us all and if you don't like liberal toleration then you're free to return to your land of origin - or join ISIS if you wish'

There's a few towns up Norf where Cameron and his crew can start.

Urdu is the 'local' language.

He plans to spend £20m on teaching UK Muslims to speak English.

I despair.. Can they not pay for it themselves?? Why should the rest have to fund this nonsense??

One very serious concern is the way Muslim women dress from head to toe. Now we know there is sadly domestic abuse in every culture. With this type of dress, men can abuse their wives and noone would ever know.

That can't be right. I would ban the headress immediately. Integration begins with face to face contact between people of different backgrounds.

I had to pick a friend up the other day from Heathrow. Waiting in T2 arrivals this woman with a full burkha came strolling through with her wheelie suitcase, only to be instantly recognised by a woman who was picking her up! She wasn't a lone burka-ite btw. Maybe the other sort recognised her by her eyes or shoes? Crazy

Then there was one of those taxi/pick up drivers holding up a sign which has Arse Attic written on it.
I had to leave before I could see what Arse looked like. Plain

Learning to speak English is imperative if you ever want to contribute to society and come off benefits and to stop the tax payer paying fortunes in interpreters for everything. Some may think they are happy with the current system and suits them right down to the ground.

Im waiting for the Muslim community to say we should all learn Urdu instead.

Warsi already sticking her big gob into it saying its not right.

Its a section of society who have no intention of becoming "British" their aim is for Britain to become Muslim.

The clue is in the name. If you're in Spain and want to integrate learn Spanish. If you're in Germany learn German. If you're in England learn English. Abolish all interpreters and interpretations.

could be sorted easily without spending £20m

To claim any benefits whatsoever you have to attend in person, no one must accompany you, all spoke in English, all questions asked by the benefit officer must be replied to in English.

Cannot do that then no benefits.

Sorted.

Yep. Common sense. Let's see if Jam Tomorrow Cameron manages to stumble upon it or whether he will keep telling people to look over the horizon for changes.

New rules will mean that, from October, people coming to the UK on five-year spousal visas will have to take a test half way through that period to show they are making efforts to improve their English.

Asked what would happen to those who failed, Mr Cameron said: "They can't guarantee that they'll be able to stay."
Cameron:

He later expanded, saying that if they were not found to be making progress after two-and-a-half years there would be no guarantee they would be able to "go to the full stage and retain their visa".

The BBC's political correspondent Alex Forsyth said the government was absolutely not suggesting people could be deported if they failed to reach the required level, but that language skills would be one factor taken into account when deciding whether to extend a person's right to remain.

Source: BBC.

So they have 2 1/2 years to prove they're 'making progress'. Laugh or Cry

No way in a million years you will be able to deport someone for not speaking english, that would be against their human rights and family life in the uk.

It doesn't merit intelligent deconstruction but by law you can't deport EU citizens for sticking to their own language. So if someone is a citizen of a EU country and doesn't speak English and thus can't be deported does anybody think anybody else from other countries will be? Interesting test of discrimination legislation I'd have thought. So as I said lighting farts. Funny when Rab C Nesbitt did it.

My son lives in Sweden now and had to take a years free course in the Swedish language before they would agree to his staying there.
Our government would probably save a fortune with something similar as it would mean they no longer had to print all official documents in 25 different languages or provide interpretors.

The current Human Rights Legislation (which encourages criminals/terrorists to do their worst), is a far bigger danger to our country than women who can't speak English, although the latter problem certainly needs to be addressed. That process should start by the immediate outlawing of the burqa and veil.

Level 3 Bengali Speaking Teaching Assistant
Job details

Celsian Education are currently looking to recruit a Level 3 teaching assistant to work in a school in Oldham on a one to one basis with a Bengali speaking child who has just joined the school. The child in question is in year one and is a capable child but needs extra guidance with literacy and reading.

It is vitally important that candidates are both, Bengali Speaking and a Level 3 teaching assistant.
