Fred Trueman on Dad's Army

He was a legend.

Indoor League

Fred who?

Cricketer extraordinaire

I remember that episode. Hodges proves himself to be quite a decent player and hits a bomb in the final scenes.

Jus watched it.....it's Godfrey who hits a 6 at the end.....Hodges is decent though.....Fred puts his shoulder out on first ball.

Why was the keeper standing up to Sir Fred?

Utter madness !

Had to have him in camera shot and so he could chat with batsman.

Nearly all cricket scenes in films or on tv are wretched. At least get the basics right. Long on and keeper standing up..??

I need to get out more..

Watched it with my 11 year old daughter and even she found it funny.

Hodges may have stood up at the stumps but the ball from firey Fred went past them all!

I thought the constant stumping attempts was brilliant, esp when he was appealing still after he was given out
