After a long, sustained fall in the oil price, who is planning to take a gamble and buy in, and at what price? If you are taking the plunge, which way are you going to play it?
I think various banks are trying to convince people oil will go to silly levels, like $10 per barrel, so they can get in first! Where is the price to catch that falling knife?
Buying a single share is not the likeliest way I'll have a gamble. I think I'll play this one : An ETf -

XSER DB X-TRACKERS DBX STOXX EUROPE 600 OIL & GAS ETF which is priced in sterling. The factsheet https://etf.deutscheawm.com/GBR/ENG/ETF/LU0292101796/B39DX90/Stoxx-Europe-600-Oil-Gas-UCITS-ETF

There's also iShares STOXX Europe 600 Oil & Gas UCITS ETF  is priced in euros, so avoid this one if you are in the UK as they will take ca. 1% on currency each side of the trade

There are some high risk options, like the premier oil and enquest retail bonds, which are currently yielding around 29%! NOTE If they go out of business, you lose the lot!

The best long term buying opportunities are found when everyone else is selling. The contrarian approach. Cool I am going to have a sizeable gamble and start buying if oil hits $25

Analysts at Goldman Sachs are now predicting 15 years of low oil prices... and say prices could fall to $20 a barrel.
Research released just days ago from The Royal Bank of Scotland shows oil dropping to $16...
And now one of Asia's leading banks is predicting oil will soon cost just $10.

UBS today was forced to admit an unidentified trader — who a person familiar with the matter said was Kweku Adoboli – racked up $2 billion in losses on unauthorized trades.

I would just like to take this opportunity to welcome Iran back to the market after sanctions and express my condolences to them that the Saudis have driven the price down so much just before Iran can start pumping their own stuff out! Mischief
