didn't really rate Inglorious Basterds, in particular i didn't see anything special in Waltz's rabid chewing of the scenery and the alternate reality was distracting.
this is much better and good fun, a sort of western whodunnit. |

Baastards and this are my two favourite Tarantino films. I don't know if that's a recommendation but if you're up for a very dark laugh it's well worth a visit in my view.

Agree with EO that this is in top 2 of Tarantino movies.

I genuinely laughed uproariously a couple of times but then I am a sick puppy.

Saw it last week. Can't say I was particularly blown away. Visually very good but felt it was very, very slow.

deffo worth a watch - good rather than great for me, bit too long as they've said above
|
|
By:
Anything by Tarantino is very special.
|
|
By:
He's vastly overrated imo. Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs were fantastic but he's not done a film since then where I thought afterwards "That was great". I know he wrote True Romance, I liked that.
|

By:
I think he is overrated and pinches most of his ideas anyway, but some scenes in his films are just brilliant. But a lot of the time he gets in his own way and too much violence, that opening scene in Inglorious Basterds was very tense, and he is very good at racking up the tension. A lot of scenes in Pulp Fiction were brillint and Django Unchained. He can create a lot of tension without so much gratuitous violence, but in his style a lot of blood has to be splattered around.
The Hateful Eight could have been a lot better than it was, some good things in it. At nearly 3 hours it was much longer than it needed to be, could have been a much better film if cut to 2 hours. Too much talking and violence, and far too long, it was like a Western version of Lawrence of Arabia ! Tarantino would be a lot better if he had someone to slow him down and just rein him in a bit. I don't think Tarantino has ever had an original idea. And I read in the paper last week that some writers are going to launch legal action, alleging Tarantino lifted characters and plotlines from their screenplay for his film Django Unchained. Took them a long time, the film came out a few years ago !! |

Seems a strange business model to offer streams like this, how legal is it or is that a silly question? |

Jackie Brown was a lot better than his later stuff.
|
|
By:
Jackie Brown was one of his worst films for me,I loved True Romance which he co-wrote one of my all time fav movies.
|
|
By:
Django Unchained was poor in my view. Good acting badly let down by a shoddy plot and script. Will watch his latest movie next week.
|
|
By:
Thought the 1st half was heavy going, but the 2nd half more than made up for it, one things for sure Tarantino dosent do normal 8/10
|
|
By:
I like the fact that he allows his scenes and indeed films to breathe. Sure he's a filmic magpie but as countless artists have shown if you nick good stuff and stick it with other good stuff sometimes you can produce great stuff. The Stones built a career on it.
|

That's funny RL. Most of my enjoyment was in the first half.

pulp fiction was a laugh when i was a teenager, fairly juvenile but back then so was i, i'm over 30 thirty now so well outgrown tarantino, the noddy books, and replica football shirts.

Watched it last night and really enjoyed it. The contrast between the first 90 minutes and the blood soaked second was a bit like the two halves of Dusk til Dawn.
Walton Goggins and Jennifer Jason Leigh were both outstanding. |

By:
agree the girl was outstanding, reminded me of her in the exorcist many years ago

Did anyone see his interview with channel 4 about an older film Django i think , the guy kept asking him why so much blood/violence in his films and asked if he liked that sort of thing. He was like its a movie and wouldnt answer , what a coont of a reporter

I remember that interview well with Krishnan Guru or whatever he's called who runs Garth Crookes and Diane Abbott to a dead heat in the affirmative action, ethnic half wit, feigning intelligence with impenetrable bollox, pregnant pauses and earnestly pained facial expressions competition.
I'm closing your butt down was even better than when he folded that idiot Spike Lee in half for telling Tarantino off for using the N word in his films. |
|
By:
Would he have sat and asked anyone who directed a serial killer film the same things
he should start by asking his channel 4 colleague who directs Hollyoaks , if he is a pedo/killer/rapist/murderer/kidknapper ( kids show apparently ) seen the trailers and its been on but no i dont watch daily ![]() |

![]() Funk knows, eorked for Pete tho dinnit? That site is not like anything I've ever seen, it has no advertising and no pop ups, it goes straight to a good quality feed that never drops out nor buffers. I looked at it again today, half considered watching start wars on it but decided against it. Can't have too much of a good thing, though I spent time yesterday reading about those streaming sites and the legality and I'm as much in the dark now as I was then. The general flux is that they can't be right but those impacted don't have interest in following up viewers, but IMO that changes when the snoopers charter becomes law by November when clearly the government will be in league with enterprise defending IP on the basis of lost revenue and therefore tax to the treasury. I pay for Spotify and Amazon prime and sacrifice any new or decent soup and make do with the cold turnip Sh1t they dish up on that ![]() |
