Hi, I have a co-op card reader little device but a Barclays debit card.

2 questions

Have Barclays taken over Co-op and the batteries are flat, does it take replacements or do you need a new machine.

Not my account btw, have it for betting purposes.

Have used it online before so know what I'm doing when I can log on.

I have only ever used the original "PINsentry" reader I have had for years.
I haven't seen or heard anything about a Barclays Co-op link up.
You can download the Barclays banking app onto a phone and if you need to login to your account on a PC you can use the app to generate the 8 digit code required to login to your account, it saves having to carry a card reader around

Thanks for replies.

Well it's definately a Co-op reader and as I say I have used it before. I think the easiest way would be to get my nephew to order a new reader.

Wouldn't normally need online but I'm out on my balance by a few hundred quid.

How many recent transactions does a mini statement give you?

Would recommend the Barclay app for the phone. Very easy to check your balance.

when I log in I think it usually shows my transactions for the current month but there is an option to search other date periods, i am not sure how far back you can go. I think i have checked staemants going back about 3 months(maybe more, i am not 100% certain)

I didn't realise you could use any card reader. I have just seen this on Barclays website:

Yes, you should be able to use someone else’s card reader, even if it’s from another bank, but you can only use your own bank card and PIN. For your own security, you should only use a card reader from a trusted source and make sure that the label on the back is intact.

ok, many thanks for your help, onthehoy. I've nearly finished with the account but wanted to balance before I gave the card back.

Thanks bigmo.Will try that.

Damn, Barclays Mobile Banking will not download until you connect to Wi-Fi

This item is over 100MB.

That opens up a new series of questions. Grin
