As some may know, I used to be an avid crisp chomper - Salt & Vinegar being my favourites.

However, due to stomach ailments, I gave up my beloved crisps some 11 years ago.
Good Lord, I can barely believe it's eleven years since I've eaten a bag of the sublime, potato ambrosia known as crisps!

Anyway, I was in Poundland a few days ago and saw that they are currently selling the flavour and brand that were rapidly catching up on my salt & vinegars before I went 'cold turkey': Brannigan's Roast Lamb and Mint.

I haven't seen them anywhere for years and the temptation to buy (and scoff) some was almost overwhelming - but I stood strong, thanks to my gut gurgling as I was salivating at the thought of them!

Just one English pound will buy you a 5-pack of these wondrous comestibles from Poundland.

For crisp aficionados all I can say is: Fill your bellies, before they go off the market again!

The first job I left Tommy they bought be a box of Salt & Vinegar. I think it was the 48 packet box and it lasted about a week.

We have the same addiction Grin

hehehe, we do indeed, Crisp!

Someone once bought me a box of Salt & Vinegar Seabrooks before they were available in Stoke.
Probably the best gift I've ever had!

Salt and Vinegar is my favourite as well.

Poundland have 5 packs of McCoys Salt &Vinegar on offer for £1 at the moment, Bigmo.

Absolutely stonking value.
Report Tommy Toes • December 29, 2015 12:28 PM GMT
- which reminds me once again of a wonderful crisp gift I received.

I used to be on the train quite a lot when McCoys first came out and always used to buy as many of their S&V as I could carry whenever I saw them at a railway station - as they weren't available in Stoke, although the plain and cheese & onion varieties were.

After some months, I wrote a letter to McCoys (KP Snacks) telling them of my affection for their S&Vs and asking when they were likely to be available in Stoke.

I received a lovely letter in return saying they would look into it and hopefully it wouldn't be too long before they were available in Stoke - and sent me six bags of S&Vs "To keep you going!".

That was a right grand day!
Report Tommy Toes • December 29, 2015 12:38 PM GMT
- on reflection; it might have been 7 bags, to keep me going for a week.

Whatever it was, it was a cracking gift to receive just for making an enquiry.
Report Tommy Toes • December 29, 2015 12:41 PM GMT
- I think I scoffed the whole 7 bags in one go!

That was what my S&V crisp addiction was like - hence my decision to give them up forever...sob...

Jaws crisps from the mid 80s were the best, Spicy tomato, Roast beef and pickled onion, like a much better version of Monster Munch sadly stopped when sooner snacks were bought out by golden wonder....and yes I am a crisp addict/nerd...Seabrook probs the best out there at the moment..
Report Tommy Toes • December 29, 2015 7:34 PM GMT
Houseofpain and Paulypaul: Poundland are also selling Brannigans' Roast Beef & Mustard at £1 for a pack of 5 - as well as Brannigans' Ham & Pickle.

Mobo, Poundland were selling packs of 5 McCoys Plain Crisps last week - although they're not listed on their site at the moment.

It's always worth calling into your local store for them though, as they still may have them.

Have a drool over this page Crisp Chompers!

Anyone remember 'skydivers'? Can't remember who made them, just remember Beef flavour...shaped like a skydiver, how random is that?
Report Tommy Toes • December 29, 2015 7:39 PM GMT
Again, not listed on their site, but in my local Poundland they were also selling 'Tayto Cheese & Onion' in packs of 5 or 6 for a quid last week.

I know they're a favourite of many Betfairians - and I've never seen them on sale before in Poundland.

Jollyswagman, I think it's because I haven't had one single crisp for eleven years I'm just yearning for them!

But I know if I had just one bag as a 'treat' I'd be back on 7 bags a day in full-blown-addiction- mode before the week was out!
Report jollyswagman • December 29, 2015 7:54 PM GMT
the fact you are starting threads about them is what worries me. how long were you on 7 bags a day?
Report doridoru • December 29, 2015 8:20 PM GMT
Yep Skydivers were great, I have about 6 bags a day, am 43 weigh 11 stone 6ft and healthy....don't eat choclate, just look at the comaprison, say a wispa bar, its like 6 bags of crisps satuarated fat and the one bag of crisps lasts longer! crisps get a bad rap with the health police!
