Isn't it about time the word racist was put into the same category as the N word and the P word?

Surely the misuse of the word in itself warrants some sort of censure?

I'll wager that its use causes more offence now than the sum total of offence given by the other two words put together.
I'm surprised it is still allowed to be bandied about like it is.

Why not a PR ban on the word for a start?
I look forward to the day when its use it is met with silence and embarrassment. The same as when the other two slurs I mentioned are used.

And who knows, eventually the police might start taking an interest in the people who use it as well.

15 years ago people said we must join the Euro or it would be a disaster now they are silent.

Many of the same people successfully closed down the debate on immigration with the racist slur at that time now they agree it should be discussed.

The same people people are using the same slur to silence anyone  who dares criticize Islam in a few years they will change their truth .

This group of irrational people haven't got a clue.

The term "racism" doesn't have a  nuance. It encompasses everything from the belief that "inferior" races should be wiped out in death camps to  making a mildly unintentional insensitive but well-meaning remark. Is it surprising few people are willing to get tarred with that brush?

The human mind can be very weak instrument in the wrong body, anyone who let's their mind take control because of a word is going to struggle in this world.

"There are no problems other than those created by one’s own mind".

Where do fear, judgement, jealousy, hatred or love exist? Do they have any physical existence, can you hold them in your hand? They cause enormous pain and suffering for weak minded people?

They are purely states of mind and exist only in the mind, they have no existence outside of the mind. Physical violence you see happen is an expression of anger, but violence isn’t anger itself.

The mind is the source of all problems, you may believe that someone losing the use of their legs is a physical problem, but the reality is that the problem is still in their mind. There are people with physical disabilities who curse each day they are alive, and there are people with the same disabilities who have learned to live with them and are much happier because of it.

Physically, it’s the same situation, yet mentally it’s vastly different.

It’s the difference between happiness and misery, simply because of a mental attitude. The way things are is the way things are, it’s the mind that judges that as being a problem or not.

Since suffering only exists in the mind, it seems obvious that the mind is the source of suffering. In fact the mind is what creates all the problems, the whole idea of a “problem” is a concept within the mind. None of these things should be too difficult to accept, at least mentally, but it seems application of this knowledge is something people struggle with. I say this because most people are still trying to solve their problems using the very thing that created the problems, their mind.

How often have you heard that you can’t solve a problem using the same kind of thinking that created the problem? Yet all day long, every single day, people attempt to do precisely that. That kind of unconscious creation makes life very difficult, you can easily create two more problems for every problem that is “solved”. The mind is what creates the problems.

To eradicate a problem of the mind then you must not let your mind create that very problem in the first place.

If you cannot solve the problem of the mind with the mind, what then? Since most people live almost entirely from their minds, this seems like a paradox. We have all these spiritual practices that are supposed to solve this issue, but spiritual practices, and in fact all spiritual knowledge, is still mind-based. It may help some, but it doesn’t solve the root problem. It’s inherently limited because it’s still part of the mind.

The solution is in the heart, the Heart doesn’t have judgment, so the Heart doesn’t have any problems. You may believe that the Heart suffers, but it’s not really the Heart that suffers, it’s the mind’s unfulfilled desires that create suffering. It’s the mind that creates the illusion of separation, and it’s the mind that mourns a perceived loss, which is really the mind feeling sorry for itself.

The mind can create the illusion of healing, in fact this is what’s known as the placebo effect. Since the mind created the suffering you may think it has enormous control over the solution. If you really believe in your mind that something will make you feel better, chances are it will appear to end the suffering. If you don’t understand that the mind is what created the suffering in the first place, this might lead you to believe the mind has enormous healing  powers. Of course, the patterns that originally created the problem are still there, and chances are the suffering will return in one form or another.

The more you get out of the mind, the closer you get to a solution This is the whole point of meditation, do not get all caught up in meditation techniques and systems, this is just more mental creations.

Simply thinking of nothing is the most effective meditation, just let the mind go, it's hard because that's too simple for the mind. The mind needs to complicate things, it likes complicating reality.

The key is to stop associating yourself with your mind. You awareness doesn’t originate from your mind, your mind is only one subject of your awareness, one of many. The key is to understand the uses of the mind, and also its limitations. If you want to write a book, you need the mind, if you want lasting peace and happiness, do not use the mind to try to get there.

Only Love can truly satisfy your Soul, trying to find peace through the mind is why there’s so much conflict in the world. The mind is the source of conflict, it cannot truly understand peace.

Fighting with the mind only strengthens it anyway, as conflict itself originates from the mind.

I am not my thoughts but the awareness behind them..

I am not my thoughts but the awareness behind them..

Balance is found by not associating yourself with the thoughts in your mind, by no longer attaching to them. Simply observe them and let them go, don’t get caught up in them. Then you’ll begin to expand your Consciousness into the more subtle feelings that are usually drowned out by the loud, unruly mind. It’s through seeing beyond the mind that the Divine is found, and where real Love, fulfilment, and peace are found.

The next time you feel your mind bubbling and manufacturing an emotion from a comment someone made to you, say inwardly to yourself 'Who gives a ****'  - repeat this every time your mind tries to take control of you, 'Who gives a f*ck !, Who gives a f*ck !' - Soon you will reliase 'The more you don't give a f*ck the easier life becomes ! '

I agree with that Kenny, which makes the word utterly meaningless as far as I am concerned

Also we allow ourselves to be too easily dominated by 'one word', this is not the only one.

Sexist, Homophobic a couple of others, and probably a few more..............

I start by owning up to all of them, takes away their power, although I wont own up to paedo, but that is also often misused I feel

If we just ignore them, then we can start serious conversation on some of these issues

One word cannot define everything, that is what we have a language for

human beings

can you engineer their minds to be non racist non sexist and all the other pc sh!t

yes you can but you will end up with a non human being

and they will be very far more dangerous than anything you could ever imagine

I could agree with that duke

You see I think some of these things are genetic in us, and are coming from our subconscious

Unfortunately any genetic research on Human Beings is effectively banned at the moment

We think we can condition this out of people, I have severe doubts on this

Words.

They're just a collection of soundwaves, or ink or pixels.

Context is everything, but it's far easier, though infinitely more crass, to end up using a pretzel non-phrase like 'The N-Word' everytime you meant to use the word '****'.

Effectively you are saying that the recipient(s) of your communication are too damned stupid and / or effete to work out the context in which you are using the word and to judge for themselves your intentions - or that the mere usage of a word will make them ill, so we have to use a stupid, meaningless and, to my ears, more offensive phrase.

Of course, asterisks can work just as well.
