and yes I know she could say no to them on the phone, but unfortunately she won't say no to people.

Can you block the number or at least have caller display and tell her not to answer that number? I'd be blowing a whistle down the line!

Get caller display and then buy BT8500 telephone, programme the phonebook with numbers of family and friends and no more cold calls. Had the phone for a couple of months and had not one cold call. Any calls received from non stored numbers will be met with a message saying this service is being monitored give your name and wait, you will then be given the option to take the call, send it to answerphone or reject completely. Can also block the number. I have never had any cold callers give a name to try and get through, brilliant phone wish I'd brought it years ago

^^^^^ Agree with this. I have the BT8500 and don't get any cold calls now. If you pay 12 months line rental up front, I think you get 10% off and your BT Privacy and caller display free.

Cold calling should be banned. Annoys me when they pester people, especially nice old ladies like Hank`s mum. Honestly, they can drive one mad. Same guy called me 3 times within 3 hours. I ended up telling him to f*** *** otherwise I`ll *&@*£@^&$@
![]() .... and it had nothing to do with the fact that I was losing 800 on the nags ![]() |

If you want to be polite then just tell them you are not interested as you are emigrating in 1 month. They simply have no answer to that. The other option is to say "can you just hang on" and then leave the phone. Assuming that they are told that they are not allowed to hang up on people then I always think that it must really annoy them as they can't hang up but they waste however long where they could be phoning other people.

I like the ones who have an 0800 number so you can call them back and give them grief at their expense.
