True story.
When working as a croupier in London in the early 80's a few of us were in the pub after a day shift. Barry Foster was waiting at the bar to be served (I guess he was maybe in a play in Shaftesbury avenue or something). Frenzy had been on the TV the night before and me and one of my workmates decided to go to the bar where we stood either side of him saying, loudly, childishly and taking turns, "Lovely, lovely....lovely, LOVELY" and so on. He didn't say anything but was getting visibly irritated, teeth clenched and temples twitching. Then he just turned and walked out without getting his drink. We thought it was well funny and I suppose it did make us laugh. Looking back, it wasn't clever though. Oh well, C'est la vie. |

Your lucky he didn`t strangle you or stitch you up for murder when he became Van der Valk

I expect he didn't want to take part in the World Darts Championship competition and was hoping for solitary confinement, tmm.

He'd have loved it bodil.

Van Der Valk was killed by his creator. Though he did spoil the effect by having his widow solve crimes. At the time I thought they were good books.

Hitchcock was brilliant. Think he was born in Leytonstone??
|
|
By:
He was, tmm, near where I grew up as it happens.

Was Jonathan Ross from around that way too Study?
|
|
By:
Are Leyton Orient based there or just a similar name?
|
|
By:
Leyton is next to Leytonstone. Yes the Mighty O's are based there.
Jonathon Ross (and family) did indeed come from Leyton. Paul Ross used to go to the same pubs as me and my mates as young people. |

Tretchikoff`s famous Chinese Lady print on the wall of his digs. They must have sold hundreds of thousands of them in 60s and 70s.

I didn`t realise there were 2 places, Leyton and Leytonstone. What part of London is that Study?
Paul Ross seems a more likeable chap than Jonathan? I liked him but never see him on telly anymore. |
