This evening we get our first dose of Syrian refugees here in Canada. A military aircraft is to fly into Toronto, with a further plane load to alight in Montreal on Saturday. These people are the fore runners of 25000 who are to get 'higher priority' for jobs, homes and citizenship at a projected cost to the taxpayers of CA$1.2 billion dollars. Meanwhile in my province of Nova Scotia, one third of the children are living in poverty in Cape Breton which is home to 150,000 Canadians and has an unemployment rate of 17%.
Canada spent the first 6 months of 2015 in recession and the economy is still shaky, not helped by our Governor of the Bank of Canada who yesterday announced his consideration of negative interest rates should the economic position demand such action. Our currency is down 30% from the start of the oil price crash and has fallen further because of this bozo.
I do not believe that these 'refugees' have been properly processed; when I came to Canada ten years ago the background check, medicals and application for Permanent Residency took over 18 months to be processed and achieving citizenship took another two years.
Like most of the western world the Canadian Government does not know who the enemy is.
