Personally I'm overjoyed that the Great Man has been nominated.

Fingers crossed he will now belatedly reap the rich rewards, the huge contracts and the massive financial endorsements that are surely due for a man who, erm, runs and jumps into a sand pit a few times a year, erm, erm, on the telly.

Failing that, how about at least letting the lad have a 'blink and you miss him' guest appearance of "Sooty and Sweep's All Star ITV Christmas Party" this year?

you'd think someone with so many precious ideals might have a bit of consideration towards arachibutyrophobics ffs.

I absolutely love Tyson Fury. You may not agree with his views but at least he has some........The likes of Jessica Ennis and Rutherford only believe what their marketing agent advises them to....un-naturally clean cut perfect role models make me sick

...and you think Fury isn't thinking of the bucks this mouthy / confused / misunderstood persona can generate when the fisticuffs end?

Have to disagree rogerthebutler, what company would sponser him, he has thrown away the possibility of earning shed loads because he has strong views and is not afraid to air them.

The offence taken is what surprises me.

Boxers are rarely Oxford educated. They are involved in an incredibly hard sport often because they themselves have had tough upbringings.

Add to that the ludicrous politics of boxing and who fights who and when. Then the risk of your whole career being ruined by one defeat.

I read in a paper prior to Fury's fight that Klitch has homes in various international cities. Fury lives in Morecambe. I immediately thought 'yup, I can identify with this fella and wish him all the best'.

For peeps to fall over themselves in condemnation of a man's views staggers me. Get a life.

As for Jess, she's making zillions from Vitality Insurance and Santander. Good luck to her, but the gravy train that follows Olympic success is rather distasteful imo.

That's why I remain hugely impressed by Jonny Wilkinson and his reluctance to milk his success. A truly humble man. He has been offered countless advertising deals and scorned nearly all. He also  openly refused to pose topless for adverts despite the millions that would bring him. A great British sportsman.

Offence will always be taken by the professionally offended.

I hope you are not though falling into the trap of deny anyone opposed to his views their freedom of speech to do so - that would be hypocrisy Grin

Klitschko has homes all over the world? Fair play to him, he's been World Champion for god knows how many years and I'd expect nothing less. When I hear Fury coming out with stuff like 'I can tell if someone's on drugs just by looking at them when they take their shirt off' I cringe and just wish he'd shut up, never mind before he gets into his tired views equating paedophilia homosexuality and abortion, hiding behind The Bible  (I think - he changes his stance so often) in doing so.

Still each to their own and if people vote for him for SPOTY then fine. I take the Matthew Syed view on that score, except I won't be voting or even watching that car-crash of an event.

Paywall, rtb. I won't be voting or watching either. Still, I find myself hoping Fury wins, not just because of my green on him.

From what I have seen and read about Fury he isn't the sharpest tool in the box.  Not the best heavyweight champ ever but then there have been a few substandard ones in the last decade or so so we shouldn't be surprised on that score.  Big brash boxer's being controversial for the sake of it is hardly new news, and as someone said a lot of it isn't "straight talking" but "selling your next fight".

Fury has psychological problems and you will probably see wild swings in his moods.  People make a mistake if they take seriously anything he says.

He is new to most of the media so they're going to have a field day with the nonsense he comes out with.

Seems to be successfully pursuing a 'make the most of fame' agenda with startling skill to me?

The opinions of some people never cease to amaze me. We've got people on here that like Tyson Fury but don't like Jessica Ennis-Hill. I don't know Fury but i'm quite glad about that. Having ridiculous outdated views does not make you a personality. It makes you an idiot. As for Jess, she is certainly not the product of marketing men. She is the nicest, most down to earth girl you could meet. Someone who has the same set of friends she's always had, who is friendly and attentive with everyone she meets. She's worked incredibly hard to get where she is (the greatest all round female athlete in the world) and for most of that time on pretty limited funding. For the last few years she's been to able to earn good money through sponsors and advertising. Personally, i think she deserves every penny of that. I know which one i would rather spend time with.

Jess Ennis may indeed be a lovely girl and deserves the success that's come her way. I doubt she has a single opinion on anything that she doesn't run past her PR people first though.

Not many people can run 100m hurdles faster than Jess Ennis.  Think her time in 2012 would have won gold in 2008.  She is British record holder at it and was until recently british record holder at high jump.  Think KJT has a british record or two at individual events.

Dunno what  your problem is 1sttimeposter.  I like the triathlon.  Ali Brownlea not the fastest swimmer, biker or runner in the world.  But he is the fastest swimmer, biker and runner in the world.  Still an awesome athlete, what's not to like unless you are one of these that just likes to criticise and pick holes.

Well like I say, for Jess Ennis it would have got gold in 2008 in the 100m hurdles.
