Me?
Even if not, I'm always up for a bit of athletic trivia. Not a racy story about Lindsey Macdonald is it? |

Sadly no !
I recall we've strolled down Memory Lane together a few times in the past re: obscure past Olympic/Athletics performers, and so I'm sure you'll remember the name Papageorgopoulos from the 70s. He was a very good Greek 100m runner and Coleman's thankless task was to try and fit in calling his name umpteen times in such a short race. A task made more difficult as he was notoriously fast from the blocks. Anyway, I have belatedly learned that the Great Man once discovered his very own solution to the Greek Economy Crisis. Rgeards etc . http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/general/athletics/former-greek-sprinter-vassilis-papageorgopoulos-jailed-for-stealing-12m-8518030.html |

When it comes to bad boy Greek sprinters it puts Kenteris little, um, peccadillo, before the 2004 Olympics into perspective doesn't it? |

Indeed, the motorcycle boy was a mere lightweight.
It gets better. Firstly, the authorities saw sense and evidently reduced his sentence. . http://www.ekathimerini.com/161540/article/ekathimerini/news/ex-mayors-life-term-for-graft-is-shortened Now he's out on compassionate grounds. . http://www.pappaspost.com/former-mayor-of-thessaloniki-free-from-jail-papageorgopoulos-convicted-of-stealing-e17-million-free-on-compassionate-grounds/ Hooray for Greek Justice, what ho? Best that money can buy? |
