I've used the same brand of stick deodorant for over 30yrs. Unfortunately it's £24 a pop these days.Recommendations for a cheaper alternative welcome...stick versions only preferred.

If you have a bath or shower regularly, the you don't need deodorant, IMO.
I have a shower every week and it does for me, although it can be a bit lonely. |

more than once a month washes out your valuable essential oils

mememe...you may indeed get away without a deodorant, but you have to realise that if you perspire, then you will stink!
It isn't the perfume that just disguises the smell. It's the active ingredient, that kills the bacteria, that are causing the stench! |

"Lynx-Africa" is a good one...
It smells like a Zulu's loin cloth! |

Nivea silver protect is very good, does the job and no poncey smell.

Aunty,
I was jesting ... I shower every morning and always smell like a new born baby (who's wearing Dove Deodorant) |
|
By:
Of course I was jesting too!
Due to the vagaries of the English language, your bracketed comment could be a statement, or a question! |

Just buy from the Aldi Lacura range. Very cheap and does the job.

Might just go back and have a bash with some "roll on" types.
I detest the ones that leave everything covered in a white powder (I think this is mainly the ones with aluminium blah blah blah). I have found that some of the stick ones seem to build up on a shirt and, despite washing, make the area stiff. Tip here is to soak the area in white vinegar. before hanging outside (the shirt I mean) and then blasting it with a garden flame thrower. |

Whatever happened to carbolic soap and the scrubbing brush?
|

You want anti-antiperspirant not deodorant, the 48 hour stuff. I second the Nivea range is decent...and cheap.

Try a larger shop? I bought a large can from boots recently, they had small ones but I can't remember the normal stuff not being there. I don't normally wear deoderant though.
If I've anything important on I'll wash under the pits, rinse then wash again, it makes a big difference as to how long before any smell appears. Try it, then thank me . |

Are there any other parts of the body that need deodorising ...
Feet perhaps. Do women have problems like this? I suppose in the end you can't beat a good wash ... and thereby avoid masking the stink - not my end, I hasten to add! |

I would usually have two showers every day and I very rarely use deodorant and according to Mrs.Blue I never pen and ink.

Have you married the new bird, Slippy, or are you referring to the ex-wife ? (confused of Ealing)

PS. Dove Deodorant for me, roll-on.
|

PPS I am worried about the stuff being on my skin all the time.....may have some unknown effect on the body longterm.

Some people (so I'm sure the conspiracy nuts on the forum
) are convinced that the alumunium in deoderant is bad for you. That's more the antiperspirant types. If I'm wearing one for normal use it's lynx (though I tried the LIDL one and it's pretty nice), which isn't really an antiperspirant. Some deoderants advertise the lack of it.I do wear an antiperspirant on holiday sometimes though, if it's hot and humid you can sweat in minutes and you don't want your limited clothing cycled through and stinking after 2 days.. |

It's a bit like "The Women's Institute" on here, with some of our topics!
Have we ever had a thread on "Vaginal Thrush"? |
|
By:
Aunty
the Vaginal Thrush is a winter visitor to these shores. It can often be seen ... sorry I can't continue with this ... I was going on to talk about its nest ... then I started to itch in an embarrassing area!! Have to go ![]() ![]() |
