I do, but I never use it any more.
Report Hank Hill • December 3, 2015 7:48 PM GMT
Yeah, use it loads. Can't beat a stir fry in a decent wok Happy
Report Charlie • December 3, 2015 7:52 PM GMT
I had a wok but threw it away. All this keep it 'oiled' or whatever just made it sticky when I came to use it. Big frying pan (can't remember proper name) or takeaway is easier.

Iron age cookware from a time when they had to cook over an open fire.

Stick it under your car when you change the oil.
Report mobo • December 3, 2015 9:26 PM GMT
any pan will do
Report boxingthefox • December 3, 2015 9:30 PM GMT
I have one, great for stir frys, Mrs Quasimodo had one, she only used it for ironing Quasimodo's shirts.

I'll get me coat.

I own one, love a stir fry but doesnt it go cold ever so quick no matter how hot it comes out of the pan.
Report boxingthefox • December 3, 2015 9:39 PM GMT
Yep it does IS, has to be eaten reasonably quickly, I suppose it's because the ingredients are sliced/cut small??.
Report boxingthefox • December 3, 2015 9:40 PM GMT
And cant hold the heat?^^
Report Ibrahima Sonko • December 3, 2015 9:52 PM GMT

Report boxingthefox • December 3, 2015 9:58 PM GMT

Had mine for over twenty years and it will last a lifetime.

To get the all over black patina they do need to be washed, without scraping, and then oiled and wiped off with towel roll.

When you get a takeaway it is still hot for ages after delivery.

The reason is that you have to use a gas hob, with a large centre burner. No good otherwise!
Report dustybin • December 4, 2015 10:09 AM GMT
I used a wok for almost all cooking.
That's correct re the upkeep of the wok.
Infact many hotels and restaurants don't wash them just clean them in oil.
I do wash them but never soak them or leave them draining, and apply oil straight away after
Report Aunty Post • December 4, 2015 10:19 AM GMT
If you can see the chef at the Chinese, you will see that he just uses a brush and water to clean between meals.

Also the flame is fierce, and sounds like a jet engine!

As far as diy is concerned, your best bet is to finish it for a minute or so in the micro-wave (cue micro-wave police).

Re-heating is all I ever use mine for as wouldn't dream of attempting to cook in it!

A Hostess Trolley will solve most of your problems and of course will be a source of pride and status for her indoors.

We have one but don't use it a lot. Unless you want to get serious about Chinese cooking, a large frying almost as good really.

I was part of the team that decided to only sponsor the back of readings shirt as the cost of the front compared to publicity was a rip off.
England cricket far more expensive but better in the long run.

The Beeb are planning a series about the disgusting smell given off by simmering Chinese vegetables. They're calling it the BBC2 Wok Reek.

I have heard that there is a Chinese takeaway (in Manchester I think) called 'WOK AROUND THE CLOCK'!
