I do, but I never use it any more.

Yeah, use it loads. Can't beat a stir fry in a decent wok

I had a wok but threw it away. All this keep it 'oiled' or whatever just made it sticky when I came to use it. Big frying pan (can't remember proper name) or takeaway is easier.

Iron age cookware from a time when they had to cook over an open fire.

|
By:
Yep it does IS, has to be eaten reasonably quickly, I suppose it's because the ingredients are sliced/cut small??.

Had mine for over twenty years and it will last a lifetime.
To get the all over black patina they do need to be washed, without scraping, and then oiled and wiped off with towel roll. When you get a takeaway it is still hot for ages after delivery. The reason is that you have to use a gas hob, with a large centre burner. No good otherwise! |
|
By:
I used a wok for almost all cooking.
That's correct re the upkeep of the wok. Infact many hotels and restaurants don't wash them just clean them in oil. I do wash them but never soak them or leave them draining, and apply oil straight away after |

If you can see the chef at the Chinese, you will see that he just uses a brush and water to clean between meals.
Also the flame is fierce, and sounds like a jet engine! As far as diy is concerned, your best bet is to finish it for a minute or so in the micro-wave (cue micro-wave police). Re-heating is all I ever use mine for as wouldn't dream of attempting to cook in it! |
