Yes.
Report hitmanhearn • December 2, 2015 5:06 PM GMT
It should be banned on the grounds that this is our ****g country and we do not want foreigners walking around with balaclavas on. This country needs to seriously man up imo.

The burka represents a woman's secondary status in a culture dominated by men.
It has no place in Western society.
Report Make my hay • December 2, 2015 5:12 PM GMT
Can anyone wear one or do you have to be a Muslim? Bet they'd be nice and warm in the winter, I was just looking on Ebay and they're only about £20 and that's including postage.
Report mememe • December 2, 2015 5:18 PM GMT
Do they have to be black?

I suppose they can't be a gay clour, unless you're good at landing on your feet (from a tall building)
Report Make my hay • December 2, 2015 5:23 PM GMT
Maybe Muslims have a patent for the design of  burqas so that they have to be black, I don't know.
Report Mick Sturbs • December 2, 2015 5:25 PM GMT
Yes other European  countries have, France, Sweden
Report Make my hay • December 2, 2015 5:30 PM GMT
Here's a blue one, that would be alright to wear in a snow storm.
The blue ones are a bit more pricey though.

One fear I have is that domestic abuse is rife in most cultures, especially in the Religion of Peace.

How can friends, colleagues of a woman dressed head to toe in black ever see possible bruises etc?

White women who have been victims of abuse either stay home to hide their injuries, thus courting worry and concern, or brave the outside world, get noticed and the alarm gets raised (hopefully).

Where the f are the feminists shouting from the roof tops about Muslim women?????
Report HH Sultan Vinegar • December 2, 2015 5:36 PM GMT
I know some western women can get a bit narky when they see another woman in the same dress.

Therefore I assume it kicks off quite a bit in burka societies

A pertinent question indeed. Sadly, these self-imagined  'strong feminists' can't even find it in themselves to get stuck into the revolting FGM atrocities carried out in the UK, let alone the burqa issue. So much for 'liberation' and 'empowerment'.

Professional thieves apparently find the burqa a most helpful shoplifting aide. On an average trip to the supermarket, they can reportedly liberate around 200 tins of Corned Beef underneath a typical burqa, without attracting the attention of a store detective.

And naturally no-one is going to challenge the wearer to remove the garment, as that would represent a grotesque 'cultural insensitivity' and cause the sky to fall in.

In other news, could I interest anyone in a tin or two of best Fray Bentos Corned Beef?  A quid each or two for £3. You know it makes sense.  Hurry hurry hurry.
Report mememe • December 2, 2015 6:26 PM GMT
I used to live in Teheran and the general consensus amongst the expats was that we welcomed the chador (their equivalent of the burkah) given the state of some of the women ... however, I have to say that some were gorgeous ... and they wore very western clothes (before the revolution).

A friend of mine with a rampant imagination reckoned that they had nothing on underneath except for stockings and suspenders, but we never did find out.

Sorry, can't agree with you Charlie on this one.
The people who wear the burqa are in the main the victims of the desire of some religious fascists to subjugate women to the status of chattel. This is the outward expression of that desire which is contrary to the laws of our society and which ought to be enforced.

As far as I am aware women do it voluntarily in our society
Report Clouseau • December 3, 2015 12:25 PM GMT
Don't care if it's voluntary or a religious obligation.

You can't interact with others in any society without letting the people you are communicating with to see your face and be able to see your lips move and read the your facial expression. I can't, off the top of my head, think of any primate or land based mammal who does not communicate this way.

Even in societies where the niqab is prevalent I believe women are able to remove them when just in the prescence of other women or children to facilitate social interaction.

If somebody wears the niqab in public in this country, for whatever "reason" it is a demonstration on their part that they have absolutely no intention of communicating with the general public or integrating with the wider society.

It is the equivalent of a two-fingered salute to non Muslims. Immigration is not the problem, integration is.

Islamaphobe(courtesy of ebulgerry) & TERRORIST SYMPATHISER (Courtesy of Kamaroon) Here!!
Ebul gerry defends Islam again - you won't be smiling when one hides a bomb up her ......
It is a symbol not only of female inequality but one of the misogyny  and control by men of their women - it doesn't stop at the burqa of course. It is also a political symbol - as stated above, one of sticking two fingers up to you honkeys.
If gerry was to take the time and read the qur'an and hadiths and take a look at islamic forums you would see where it is coming from and where islam is going.

She looks like mutton dressed Islam.
Report Kit-Kat-Dan • December 4, 2015 10:32 AM GMT
Yes they should be banned but also agree that the people who wish to wear one shouldn't be here in the first place.

One thing that's always bothered me though is, if you arrange to meet a friend under the clock outside M & S to discuss tabbouleh recipes, how the hell do you recognise each other if all you can see is 2mm of eyeball?

went to Tesco for eye check ... woman in headscarf checked my eyes ... but I wasn't happy.  I presumed that she was educated and independently minded.

But then I thought she is either:

controlled by the family (and should know better and say NO)

OR

superstitious (and should know better - an optician FFS ... isn't that science?)

So I went to another optician a couple of days ago ... a nice lady who dressed normal and didn't flaunt her superstition - if she was superstitious - BUT THEN I WOULDN'T KNOW AND THAT'S HOW IT SHOULD BE.

i've seen film of some swimming in the middle east, it certainly is amusing to us apostates.

do they have a miss saudia arabia competition? or fashion shows for women? if so they must be a bit boring.

i once saw a couple of youngish middle eastern men dressed in tracksuits and baseball caps, looking a bit 'home boy'. each had about 3 wives who were in full burkha. the contrast between how they were dressed made me laugh. the irony only increased when i witnessed the young men buying scratch cards!
