Summed up; the Greeks are broke and running out of land so a corpse tends to stay 3 years in the ground before getting dug up again and chucked in a pit because they cant afford to rent the plot. Pretty heavy all round especially since the orthodox church seems not to take logic into account when they defer to gospel saying the body must be left whole in time of the second coming and therefore no cremation.
I cant recall a single person who I personally have known who hasnt been cremated over the last 20 years. The thought of digging up my own parents because I could pay drastic rents to keep them in the plot is horrendous, especially when you hear they shake the bones out the clothes (wtf happened to a coffin over there?)
With mechanical equipment should be able to bury them 10 or 12 deep without too much problem.
Dig massive pit, stack coffins/corpses up and then backfill.
They must be really, really pushed for space. With mechanical equipment should be able to bury them 10 or 12 deep without too much problem.Dig massive pit, stack coffins/corpses up and then backfill.
Would be better to heat sterilise the bones then grind them up for fertiliser. Phosphates are essential for plant growth. No religion takes logic into account Dusty, why should the Greek Orthodox church be any different?
