The Metropolitan Police has made an "unreserved apology" to seven women who were tricked into relationships with undercover officers.
In a statement, Scotland Yard said the women were deceived "pure and simple".
The apology and compensation covers sexual relationships conducted by officers from two now-disbanded undercover units.
The unprecedented settlements, the amount of which is undisclosed, relate to officers who worked undercover for the Special Demonstration Squad, part of the Metropolitan Police, and the separate National Public Order Intelligence Unit.

Both teams deployed officers on long-term undercover operations to infiltrate radical political or social causes, such as environmental campaigners, anarchists and animal rights groups.
The settlements cover the actions of five former undercover officers.
In each case the officers eventually disappeared, leaving their partners searching for years for answers.

One of these, between Mr Lambert and a woman called Jacqui, led to the birth of a child. That case was separately settled last year for more than £400,000.

How is this any different from the woman who was jailed last week for pretending to be a bloke?

Don't understand the fuss as they entered into the relationships willingly enough.

All the men did wrong was lie about their jobs. No biggie.

Interesting issues underlying this.

A How many men have tricked women into having sex with them by lying????  Loads.  No issue.

B How much police undercover work is carried out with the modus operandi of lying?  Loads.  No issue.

C Police undercover worker lies and has sex with woman.  Seven, probably more.  Big issue.  Big compo payout.

These women were tricked in love, it happens all the time

I only wish a beautiful female undercover police officer had tricked me in love and then I was paid £400,00

I am still hoping it may happenCry

The difference is that only one of the accused parties used a truncheon.

Shocking stuff from the Met.
It hardly inspires confidence in talking to the police about anything if that's an example of their morals.

Would you confide in a policeman knowing how they operate?

It took West Mercia Police force, 4 years to Sack this Female "Liaison Officer", She got £100,000 out of the 80+ year old man over 10 Years, encouraging him to Buy condoms and Viagra Shocked
The family made several further complaints over the next few years but claimed they were warned by one Police Sergeant not to pursue it further Whoops
His three daughters say they told West Mercia Police about the ‘inappropriate’ affair in 2002, 2006 and 2007.
After no action was taken, they contacted the IPCC, who ordered a hearing to take place.
They eventually sued West Mercia Police, claiming their human rights were breached by the force’s failure to stop the officer's "inappropriate" behavior.
But police watchdogs said she should face a misconduct hearing after the daughters appealed and won a payout from the force at the High Court.
But, in papers lodged at the High Court, the family claim the officer apparently set about trying to get her hands on the fortune.
In a statement, West Mercia police said: 'Following a two day misconduct hearing, a West Mercia Police Officer was dismissed from the force with immediate effect for gross misconduct.

Inappropriate behaviour indeed from the woman PC.
Blatant fortune hunting.

Nevertheless
I bet the old boy enjoyed those ten years with his head tucked in the PC's boobs.
Who's to say that he didn't know exactly what he was doing?
