What with so many people being offended at the drop of a hat these days, a couple of oldies spring to mind,
that I both here regularly on BBC Radio, both local and national:
Brown Sugar - Rolling Stones
and
Lou Reed's Walk on the Wild Side
Holly came from Miami, F.L.A.
Hitch-hiked her way across the U.S.A.
Plucked her eyebrows on the way
Shaved her legs and then he was a she
(could be deemed by some to be transphobic)
----------
Candy came from out on the Island
In the back room she was everybody's darling
But she never lost her head
Even when she was giving head
(a reference to fellatio. Surely inappropriate?)
And the coloured girls go
( the word 'coloured' is racist now)
------------
Jackie is just speeding away
Thought she was James Dean for a day
Then I guess she had to crash
Valium would have helped that bash
(encouraging the use of narcotics)

A bit more recent but the charming Celebrate Your Mother by the Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster was lucky to avoid any airplay:
I want to f*ck your mother! It's a dirty job but someone's got to do it well And please don't tell your father 'Cause I'll f*ck him as well I know that you are the best in the world You say you're drinkin' poppin', pissin' 'Cause you think it's rock n' roll I know that you are the best in the world When you celebrate today Celebrate it all |

The 1972 Number One hit 'Clair' would assuredly be banned these days, or the singer driven from his home by torch-wielding fanatics.
