i've been biting my tongue today by the number of pray for paris posts i've seen from people who only a couple of months ago were posting that we should be letting everyone in after the picture of that drowned boy was published.

bunch of braindead virtue signallers (mainly the other half's friends).
Report mobo • November 14, 2015 7:35 PM GMT
their policies allowed them in to kill their own people ffs  - open borders
Report DStyle • November 14, 2015 7:42 PM GMT
no. you missed out the bit where after letting them in they decided that the best way of stopping them coming, was to bomb their friends.

the nearest analogy i can think of is a bunch of animal rights activists who deplore monkeys and apes being kept in captivity. Their solution: to free all the animals in the zoo, and then be surprised when the lions and tigers get hungry and start to eat people.

"virtue signallers" has suddenly become a term hasn't it.

It's what I've thought and said about self righteous pr*cks on social media for years, just now there is a phrase for it.
Report Just Checking • November 14, 2015 7:45 PM GMT
Actually there WAS already a phrase : "self righteous pr*cks" LaughLaughLaughWhoops

After January's killings the French went out holding hands and then clutching candles, the only person prepared to something ( Marine Le Pen ) was told not to attend.

This time around they are singing their National Anthem but they won't do anything, these people were cowardly in two world wars, they are still cowards.
Ye bailed them out in both those wars but got little thanks.
Report DStyle • November 14, 2015 7:49 PM GMT
there is a slight difference.

you can be a self-righteous prick but actually be doing something self righteous

the critical thing about virtue signalling is that it does not require the person to actually do anything virtuous.

"these people were cowardly in two world wars, they are still cowards."

This is an incredibly ignorant and offensive thing to say, you have absolutely no clue about how the french fought, their casualties, and their bravery in ww1. Just because Britain concentrates on what we did is only part of the picture. Go read a book and educate yourself.

Yes they screwed up in ww1 but that was due to very bad leadership and being strategically outmanouevered not cowardice.
Report Just Checking • November 14, 2015 7:58 PM GMT
sorry "screwed up in ww2". Ignorant people mouthing off annoy me.

Hmm. And who bailed out "Ye"?
Report wildmanfromborneo • November 14, 2015 8:35 PM GMT
The way history is taught now is to decry things ye should be proud of.

Just Checking is offended by someone giving him the facts.
Its a fact that the French needed the British in the Great War.
Its also a fact that the French surrendered in the Second World War and again needed the Brits to rescue them.

You may try and pretend these things didnt happen, your history teachers may try and pretend Britain had no real role in these wars but they had.

The Ye is just the plural of you and is also showing I'm not included.
Its an observation from an independent source.

The French have resented this for years which is why they have never supported Britain in anything.

To redress the balance maybe the French will demolish the Calais camps or just reintroduce the rule of law there.
Report Just Checking • November 14, 2015 8:48 PM GMT
"The facts"? I took exception to you calling them cowards.

In ww1 the French needed the British and the British needed the French. We'd both planned in advance that Britain would take the left flank when Germany attacked (as they knew would happen as Germany was wantign and planning it), and that's what happened. We had a fraction of their number of men involved in one area, they did most of the initial hard fighting and fought bravely suffering huge losses. British history of course doesn't cover what the French were doing over a vast front when we had one corner of it. Or did you think Britain was doing all the work as they eat croissants?

What the hell has Britain going over in accordance with treaty obligations to Belgium etc got to do with the French being "cowards", that you now aren't even trying to support?
Report wildmanfromborneo • November 14, 2015 9:10 PM GMT
The French needed the British but not the other way round.

You conveniently forget that France was a traditional enemy that never trusted Britain, they also were a contributing factor to causing the Second World War with their vindictive demands.

You seem to have dropped the pretence of their  valour in that war.

De Gaulle hated the British, blocked your entry into the EU for years, when Heath begged loud enough the French made Britain pay a ludicrous price for entry.

That wrong could soon be righted.

These people hate us because we're non-Muslim. Kuffir. And those of us who are Muslim are not Muslim enough in their crazy playbook.

They hate us because we're westerners, with a free culture, freedom of religion, because we allow - and even revel in - nudity, drinks and a generally secular lifestyle.

They will never stop.

You can stop bombing them - and give them more space and time to plan murderous attacks such as these - or you can destroy them on the ground.
